Did give the Busa a quick trip out,
Changing the well worn 190/50 for a near new 190/55 was VERY noticeable and well over due. Thanks guys. They told me it was a "long weekend" so I didn't bother going to work today!

You have the jack up blocks as well I see. They really enhance the 14 don't they. What clocks are you running and why? Just cheaper or is there other benefits?

The 14 was bought as a crashed bike.
Factory clocks and bars were cactus. I have Renthal 789's on all my bikes, they fit me personally. The clocks are KOSO. Mrs bought them me as an engagement present. They don't bring up the factory codes, but do other neat tricks like shift and pre-shift lights, remember top speed and rev's, over speed warning etc etc. Jack up blocks (30mm) were top stop the pegs dragging on corners. They made the bike feel sharper and it steers nice, although its less stable on high speed runs. I'd wanted a 1400 for a while, but have other projects that take priority. This one is very much a budget build. As it stands in the pic it owes me $2625

Yeah I remember you telling me how cheap ya got it. I'm not jelous much... It's always amazed me how 30mm in those blocks transforms the cornering on it. Mine felt like riding a Harley around corners till I put them in. You still have to put your toes on the pegs when your leaning in going for it but so much better. I'm out on mine for a fang today :-)

Now this is a question I've always wanted to ask someone who has both the 14 and the Bandit- Which one do you prefer and why?

Quite different beasts.
14 has heaps more grunt, feels planted and solid. Works well with a pillion and covers distance better. 12 has a raw, simple charm I love. Gives heaps of feed back and is keener to lift the front. I don't tour on the 12, I don't clown about (as much!) on the 14. I'd be happy to jump on the 14 and head to Cairns or Dubbo etc, for me, the 12 would still do it, but its not as suited. The 12 can be chucked about a long easier, not sure of exact figures but it has a shorter more "twitchy" feel to it. Both fun. Both different.

I had one in the UK running a lot of nitrous, great fun. Very different the Busa's and Kings but still fun. On paper it should be crap, but it still has a simple basic charm, Crude and bouncy, a very raw uncomplicated bike. Mine was a result of a silly low bid on Ebay close to Xmas, came faired but didn't stay that way long. Another member on here Big Kev did the seat and I just changed the bars and mirrors etc. |
