Hi all...I have just purchased a 2012 Hayabusa, and I am filled with both excitement and trepidation. I have always loved the Hayabusa, but swore I would never own one...because it was too powerful. Then I went for a few test rides and found the power quite manageable as long as I kept my head in the game and acted responsibly...in fact, I found it very similar to flying...flying an aeroplane is more about managing the tools you have available to you to ensure the flight is both safe and successful. So...here I am...a Hayabusa owner...and proud of it!! The first change I would like to make is to install a cruise control as I am planning an Ayers Rock pilgrimage from Bendigo...and so any thoughts and ideas would be most welcome. (I'm not keen on a throttle lock at all.)

The guys here are well versed on these lovely bikes so dont be afraid to ask any thing or just traul the posts as its probly here already.
When ya get a chance post some piks of the Busa were all a little voyeristic when it comes to new members bikes

Hi Ken, and welcome to the club.
As far as I'm aware your choices for a cruise control are a throttle lock, or a throttle lock. I use a 'Throttlemeister', which I reckon's pretty good.

I have been talking to Motorcycle Cruise Control in Melbourne, and if I leave the bike down there for three weeks, they will design a cruise control kit for the Hayabusa. The completed kit would cost between $1164.90 and $1250.70 retail plus installation (which apparently can be done by a competent home mechanic).
That said, I've checked out the the Throttlemeister just now, and it's a fraction of the cost.......

hey mate .. welcome to the insane asylum..
Like a lot of first time busa owners you have now found that a really great bike is hiding behind the reputation of a rocket... it's a shame really cause I think they are safer than many litre bikes about and twice as good.
The cruise control sounds good as I am not a fan of anything that locks the throttle too... but I will admit that I am up to using the "choke" on my 99 to cruise through a town at 50-60 LOL
as corpes said.. post up some pics of your new pride and joy and start a thread in DIY if you go down the cruise control your found

I have the black model...it is still at the dealer getting its registration, etc and as soon as I have it home, I shall upload some pics! Can't wait to join some of you on a ride one day!!!!

Just for the record, the Throttlemeister doesn't lock the throttle. It tenses it up , but you can always unwind it manually, easily, if needed.

G'day and welcome Ken,
Don't stress about the Busa's power, unless provoked it's as civilised as the next bike. Just remember though that when you do, it all happens VERY fast. However, unlike aeroplanes, I have yet to see one fall out of the sky.

I went looking for a cruise control prior to last years bash too.
Throttlemeister has good reputation but I found it expensive.
Then I looked into Kaoko, Thompy on here uses one and loves it. But Kaoko have stopped dealing here in Oz so its a pain in the arse to be honest.....
I ended up buying a different type of throttle lock which worked perfectly. I rode 4999.7 km round trip in the week and had an AWESOME time.
I'll throw some photos up of mine later, but its a " OMNI-CRUISE " and cost me $30 :)
You don't use it All the time but its nice to be able to twist it on and relax your right hand for a while here and there.

The most boring hayabusa colour scheme Suzuki has come up with so far
They're a bugger to keep clean too .. Bugs to a black bike are like moths to a flame
Do yourself a favour and get a tank bra .. The black really shows up the scuff marks !!
Enjoy her mate, I've done 12k on mine and I love it more every time I ride it ..
