to those with YTX14 sized batteries

How did you get them to fit height wise? I have a DEKA 14 i just bought which is the same size as the yuasa 14 in the shop. there was a thread on here that people said they where using the 14 size batteries. It looks close and I think it will fit ok if i trim down the foam attached to the bottom of the seat which was obviously to hold the original battery steady. Any other tips or just cut the foam down?

Take the seat off and cut off that little rectangle of the back of the seat

the rectangle that the foam originally attached to? i already have still doesnt fit unless i force it down. Ill try and remove some more material from under the seat see how i go.

I had the same prob, Dan.....and you end up forcing the seat down so hard to make it fit, the seat base ends up being forcibly bent backwards......and you WILL feel it thru the seat to your ARSE, especially on a longer ride (very painful)!!!
Best advice I could give you would be to ditch the ill-fitting battery and go back to the standard-sized one that fits properly!!

I got it to fit ok with a bit more triming underneath. Unfortunately Baz the bigblock doesnt like starting in the heat(and perths forecast is normally hot and shitty with chance of more hot and shitty tomorrow) and I wanted the extra CCA of the bigger battery. I had tried the stock and a motobatt of stock size and both only just fired the big girl up when cold but with the bigger deka it spins up awesome.

ive had 2x batteries in my busa in 2 yrs ,and ive had 2x diff batteries, one a really low one, which shit itself in 6 months now i have a taller one ,it cranks over fine ,il post up the brand and size tomorrow

I'm going from memory here (always a bit of a gamble) but I think the battery that suits a Blackbird (?) is the same size as the busa battery, just with more cca.
Whaddya mean there's no bourbon left????

Blackbird is a 12 size just taller than the busa by the foam block

Dan sounds like you have it sorted ,
if it still gives trouble you may have to convert to 18 or 24v starting and fit an extra small battery in the tail

Yeah I gave it a good run got it hot and it started perfect on a 44c day so I think it will be ok. I'll see how I go. Thanks all.

With the battery I fitted to my turbo,
I had to cut the battery tray out, and made an alloy one to fit everything.
attached it to the plastic under tray, painted the lot black and away we go...


lot of fucken work though.

I had a 14 in the Gen2, but with a modified Tiger Fender Eliminator.
   

Now that its a big block stroker motor, got 2 of these in it.
Hmmmmm, maybe they've changed the shipping laws since then.
The 2nd battery is in the engine bay below the thermostat;

Winds the motor over real good & only have to charge the 2nd battery a bit every few days when in use.

I reckon one of these would be good as well;

The BigCC Low Ratio Starter Gear didn't seem to do much good, either did that automatic 2nd battery charging system

I ended up with a 600 CCA in the end to crank mine over when it was hot; Its a Antigravity Lithium AGYTX12-20 YTX12 600 CCA did that rather than run 2 battery's

and not a ytx14 this is a Big/High Accu............L 150 * X W 87 X H 145 mm Scary

Yuasa yt12a-bs = 175 cca 10amp =stock hayabusa ..................size L 150mm X W 87 X H 105

Yuasa YTZ14S = 235 cca 14amp used in a Honda Pan-European.......L 150mm X W 87 X H 1 1 0 mm! ! !Yes

When you trim the rubber piece under the saddle ore remove than it fits like a glove on a '99-'07

Yep it did but they are not cheap, a little tip also make the earth wire run to the started motor also not just to the block Pi_thumbsup
