Being a AHC member to me
#1
Recently I have read some views on what this club is thought to be, and while everyone is entitiled to their view (and the right to air them) it sometimes makes me sad to see exclusionism as a basis for any view.

3 years ago I joined AHC after buying my first busa. I never even new the club existed and it was found using good ole google. Before joining I read over the clubs rules and description, I particularly liked the intro which said......
"Welcome to the Australian Hayabusa Club website.
We welcome new members and although ownership
of a Hayabusa motorcycle is a requisite it is NOT mandatory. You may be purchasing a Hayabusa in the future
or it may just be your dream bike.

Either way you are more than welcome to join this
Aussie Club and meet or chat online
with a fantastic bunch of people."

..... this appealled to me as I have been involved with exclusive clubs before, both a member and participant, and found I hated the one eyed views these type of clubs promote.

Over the past 3 years I have come to enjoy the personalities, banter and ALWAYS helpfulness of the club and I personally plan to be a part of it's future for many years to come even if I am a current owner of a busa or not. The few club rides I have been on were great and we enjoyed every type of member from the ill prepared (me) to those that enjoy the speed and handling of the busa (you know who you are LOL). To me it didn't matter if someone turned up on their busa or on another bike as our common thread was the pure enjoyment of a wonderful bike, the GSXR1300 Hayabusa.

In todays bike world there are many arguments that can successfully dispprove the busa's superiority as the "best" bike, each superbike has it merrits and it really comes down to a personal choice in my eyes. I love my busa due to it's looks, reputation, riding ease (which I only found out after I started riding it LOL) and looks (oh wait I said that already) and it will always be the #1 choice for me. Currently I own 2 but trying to sell 1, current life issues could even see me selling the other one soon which will make me a non-owner of a busa. If this happens I do hope that my views and membership will still be wanted here. Only joking, I know I will still be a member here regardless as I found this group of people generally a very accepting bunch.

Okay, thats my little rant, ignore it as you will just try to remember that individuality is what born the busa, to be different, to be better, to be the best....

Tony...

I couldn't have said it better if I tried......Clap

Some of us here in WA have organised the Busa Run in this part of the world and we have roughly 21 Busas Going and 12 of all sorts of other makes and models going. When it's all said and done for me it's about associating with like minded people that just happen to enjoy the same thing as you Motorbikes. Well in saying that we do LOVE the Busa so we can be one eyed but have welcome anyone that rides..

As I mentioned mate well Said..

How true and accurate is the old saying that the reason is the first victim of emotions. Maybe that is why you all do not see my point. So please allow me to make it clearer.
I have been a member of this club for almost three years. Through the upheavals, shitfights and members leaving fed up with personal attacks just for having different opinions. And just like you any many others I have met here great people, some not so great, some plain dickheads. Met many in person and established good friendships as well. But this is not all this club should be about. Let me share why.
The Hayabusa is arguably the most unique bike that was ever made. It was the first to go over 300 and it achieved a real cult status not only for its speed and power, but reliability and its universal character, from track monster to leisurely miles eating cruiser. There will be (already are) motorbikes made that are faster, more powerful and better handling. They will have better brakes and a whole suit of electronic gizmos, but they will never achieve Busa's status simply because of its history. And now we have a Club named to honor it. The members have joined it not only because they have and ride the busa, but also because they want to be a part of something bigger and better than just a bunch of guys on bikes. It is not only about camaraderie and technical advice but also about a pride, loyalty and the knowledge that when the shit hits the fan there are few guys you can relay on. The Hayabusa is core of the Club, like glue that binds us all together. That is why we call it Australian HAYABUSA Club. We share the joys and lows or riding our pride and joy as easy as we share the stories about the families, the pains of speeding fines and hard case cops. We argue about tires, oils and chain lubrication, but at the end of the day, it is the love of the busa that makes us send parts for free across the country to help a fellow member in who had an off.
Now there is an idea - we have so much fun, so lets just everybody join us. So what if he/she does not have one? That is OK, we are nice people.
For me that is completely wrong as it does not make any sense. There is no logic to it or any compelling reason to accept it. And it is not because I dislike other motorbikes (OK I do, but only Harleys) or think less of people riding other bikes. It simply does not fit with an image of a HAYABUSA Club unless it gets renamed it to Australian Motorbike Club.
Without the Hayabusa there is no club, no history, and no reason to be there. If you need more friends join the Facebook or Twitter.
I simply say it as I see it, and have done so all my life. I give shit to those who deserve it, but I also take it if I deserved it myself and I am not to proud to apologise if I am wrong. But I am not wrong on this one. But that is only a part of it. Once more it shows, that here on this forum, the moment you have a different opinion that is seen by some as politically incorrect, you are all of a sudden not nice, insulting and just short of deserving a full exorcism routine. And Pan, you ride a busa and I really do not care if you drive a Volvo as well. But just try to join the Porsche Club with it.
So please, if I am so wrong about this I would appreciate a discussion with arguments based on sense, intelligence and reason and not on a notion that we all should be "nice", hold hands together and sing "Gumbaya".

Shifu, FYI, I did join the Porsche (Pelikans) club with my Volvo, interestingly enough! True!

I feel you assume too much.
I feel your beliefs are your own and most don't agree with them.
I feel when you tell people what they SHOULD do or think, YOU'VE missed the point.

It's just how I feel... though i could be wrong.

I joined and lurked here for over a year before I bought a Hayabusa!Coolsmiley While lurking I only looked at the forum every 4-6 weeks, now I'm here every day.
While lurking I gained valuable information that helped me finally decide and buy a Busa. Hopefully now that I own a Busa I am giving something back to the forum. I have meet some good people here on the few rides I have done around Brisbane and hope to meet more in the future.
Maybe we should do this-BeerIcon_box_Grouphug

Fark, lucky I own a Hayabusa......and I'm Australian....'cause then it'd just be embarassing. Pi_freak

.....but I seem to have lost my "club" "membership" card.

Like usual we could fill pages to who's right, who's wrong' who's lost the plot (apart from me) and then Rod could ban someone for a while 'cause it went a bit too far and finaly we can once again realise all this bullshit....simply aint worth wasting time over.

Interesting enough...not even the Outlaws M.C. gave a shit that I didin't deal drugs, shoot guns and ride a Harley.......and they got some seriously strict membership rules!!!.....and they welcomed me.
