BattleAxe T30
#1
Just booked the Twisted Angel in for next service and a new set of Hoops for the Domination RunYes Spoke to the guys at savage in Perth and they recon the new Bridgeston BattleAxe T30's are a good fast touring tyre and would be good on the busa. Apparently (going by what has being written by the poms) these tyres replace the BT023 that have being discontinued and the T30 is The better tyre of the two.
I can get the T30s for about $450 for the pair! ( No I'm not being cheep) and I was wandering if anyone has had them on their ride?
Or would anyone sugest something better?
I'm in Kalgoorlie and have buggered the rear with a huge ass twtchin flat centre in under 5thou. So any help isWelcome

By memory from other threads I think the two most popular sport touring tyres at present are either Michelin Pilot Road 2/Pilot road 3 and the Dunlop Sportsmart.
On the Busa I have used the Sportsmart and currently Pilot Road 2 and can't fault either.

RAPID just also gave the Pirelli Angel GT a good rap and are fitting a set to their 2013 Busa long term test bike.

Corpse,
Without getting into the 'great tyre debate' .. I am now running pilot road 3's and I'll never go back to anything else. I've got nearly 5k on them now and they still look new Coolsmiley
I've never had the confidence that I have now either .. just my two bobs worth .. Pi_thumbsup

After using Bridgestones for many years and loving the 016R, S20R etc... I got stuck last time and got thrown a set of Pilot Power 3.
I'm sticking with the Pilot Power 3's for a while - Corpse I do an average of 800k's per week and have done almost 12,000k's on my current set.

The Michelins are def. worth looking at.

12k out of Power 3's - Not Road 3's ? Just asking coz i'm putting on new rubber this week & was looking at Road 3 or Sportsmarts.
If you can get those sort of k's out of the Powers i'll def consider those also.

- going outside to double check......yep 'power 3's'...and back is almost shagged.

I think the centres of the Power & Road maybe the same compound.

Normaly on the Bridgestones the rear is shagged after 6000, but the Michelins have held up VERY well.
Be aware though that the Pilot's centres are QUITE hard....more so than I've had with any other tyre in a long time, but I have no probs with grip.

I get to do alot of 300+km/h runs (like 5 per week....even in the wet), and I've been damn impressed with the powers on all levels.

Only thing I don't like is the profile is a bit tall for the set-up of my Busa and it can be a little twitchy.......but turn in is amazing!!!!!!

Bikerboy I think with the weather we generaly get here in Kal. the harder compound center should be good not to mention the fact weve got ef all cornersWtf.

Thanks for all the input gent's

How do you do it guys? My bike has done only 14000 ks and it is on the forth set of tyres! I had Bridgestones BT16, then Dunlops Q2 and last the Angels something supersport that suppose to last at least 10000 km. Done about 3K, went to visit Wardy last April and after 2 days and 800 km was making sparks riding on steel belts. In emergency quick trip to Albury and fitted another set of Dunlops as they have lasted longest so far. I ride only solo, keep my eye on the pressure regularly, dont do any burnouts etc. but can not get any decent mileage out of them Confused
What could that be?

The roads are pretty much the same as anywhere else. Patch-up asphalt mostly. I wouldn't say any specially abrasive one. I am just thinking maybe it is the age of the rubber? We buy them on specials (the last set Greenie organized for me from US for $230 a set delivered) so it could be a factor.

Corpse...I had the same thing with my oem....they were the single most useless bit of rubber I have ever come across!!
I got sweet FA out of them and slid the ass around way too many times I care to remember. Also threw the bike down the road from loss of traction.
My oem's were BT015, and when I got BT016 HUGE difference - even still oem bt015 and bt015 are not the same tyre. For what reason....I don't get it.

Andrew, it can only be 2 things - you're suspension is working against you causing premature wear, you're simply too hard on them, or both.

Considered the suspension Paul but I haven't noticed any typical symptoms. There is no scalloping or cold tearing. The tires wear pretty evenly across the width, there are no flat spots or squaring. And I do not ride as hard as other guys I know. Total fricken mystery Confused 3.5 - 4K and that is it. When I read about getting 10-12K out of a set I want to scream...

You're not the odd one out though, others say the same....but not many. how do go front to rear ratio? I replace both at the same time but I'd be a typical 2 to 1. are you the same?
