Hi all. I am currently looking to upgrade the exhuast on my 08 Hayabusa. Any thoughts on what is best, 4 into 1 or 4 into 2? any comments based on sound and performance would be greatly appreciated.

I think 4 into 2 sounds better
I believe 4 into 1 performs a little better

4 - 2 gives a grunty (V8 with a twin system) type note
4 - 1 gives a higher pitched racy note

All for 4-2 looks better

Depends what your using it for,go for a 4 into 1 for the drags or track, heaps lighter and a bit more hp,if its for the road, 4 into 2 or slip ons, I think they sound better, and can change them easy, if get pulled over by cops for noiseVery Happy
I owe I owe,so it's off to work I go!!!

Had the 4 into 2 Yoshi R77 slip-ons. Yeah they look and sound good, then rode a friends Busa with the R 55 Yoshi full system and was converted. You still get the low v8 sounding burble but when you give the bike a good twist of the throttle its a racecar sound. Better all round power, especially top end, as well as flashed. Yee Ha. Would never go back to twins IMHO.

Any reputable manufacturer should be able to give you performance data for both options. I know for a fact that Akrapovic 4 into 1 is over 15 kg lighter than stock and gives you few 12.1 more horses at 10,500 RPM. 4 into 2 saves you almost 13 kg and gives you 11.5 extra ponies at 6000 RPM.
You will still need to take it for a dyno and tune it to make it happen. The improvements of most slip-ons are mainly in the purely cosmetic/aural area and mostly pathetic as far as the increase of performance that really counts. Still most will save the weight Read

Hey Stuntrider how ya going all good I hope long time no see...

It really depends on what you like if you like the look of the slip-ons vrs the single pipe then you've really answered your own question but if your wanting to slim the arse end down then the 4-1 is the way to go and is one of the reason that I went that way.

If you can remember I have the 4-2-1 Full Yoshi System with the R22 Stainless Can on, then added K&N Filter & Flashed the ECU and gained 15RWHP so can't really complain about that.

I spose if your wanting to put something on with minimum of fuss then the slip-ons are the way to go mainly because to get the benefits of the 4-1 you really need to get t tuned to maximise the extra outlay.

Anyway hope this helps, if you want to catch up to have another look at the bike let me know and we will tee it up.

Hi

Now the 17 is my motorcycle inside to make. A heaterDrool
Yes I know ge have some more PS Exhaust 4-1.
But I go for 4-1-2 so of 4 pipes to one where the cat sitting and from there back to 2 x 50mm dia.
Why do I find the original exhausts beautiful, the views remain the same.Smitten
And my original exhausts have been converted to open outlets 50mm dia.

HP does not intresting me so I have to have a good flow without too much resistance.

Weight check whether it weighs more or less with over 200HP feels that they do not.
