New guy here

Gidday folks. Yes I am a newbie to this forum and look forward to being a part of this community. I have been a long time Suzuki rider over the past 33 years. Started out on a gsx 250, then went - gs1000s (that one got stolen and written off as did the guy that stole it)then bought gsx1100 (square headlight) sold that went travelling came home and bought a Ducati Mike Hailwood Replica! Sold that one week after buying it and bought gs1100g shafty - great touring. Next up was the original gsxr1100 - bought this one just before first baby was born in fact my wife was ten days over due so I took her for a very quick ride around the block and an hour or so later she went into labour! Traded that over to a new gsxr1100 and did the same a couple of times. When the busa came out I decided that would be the next bike for me but somehow found myself on a BMW. I did some stuff for BMW so for about 12 years I rode the k1200's and went through a few of them. I was spoiled by the luggage system as I travelled a lot and also had to park and fly a fair but so the ease and security of the laggage was pretty bloody good. Unfortunately been bikeless for about 3 years and am looking at getting my long awaited Busa. Found a 2011 model no km's on it for $14990 ride away so I reckon I will jump on that. First thing will be a secure top box (left a post about that) and then change the pipes to something a little more pretty. Of course I will be reading the threads about luggage, rides, touring etc adn doing my best to keep my licence. I am not buying the Busa because it is fast I am buying it because it is a bloody good looking bike, comfortable and enjoyable to ride and also do some long distance.

Cheers

Merc

Yeah I reckon $14990 on ride no more to pay is a pretty good price for a brand new 2011!

Welcome to the AHC Merc ..

I heard the '12 models can be picked up for 16ish ride away now but seeing as there is no difference, and the '11 is probably a nicer colour scheme then .. Go 4 it Pi_thumbsup

I just put a Ventura rack and bag on my '12, and I wish to christ I had of gone the Givi top box now, much tidier looking unit I reckon.

Hope to catch up with you someday mate .. maybe at Greeny's busa bash this year in Adelaide .. Biker

Cheers .. Dale

Welcome Merc. Always good to have another Vic member in the AHC.

Lots of info around on setting up a Busa for long distance and some popular mods are bar risers and the buell peg mod.
A change in the front or rear sprockets can set you up for the bike to run at lower rpm's for touring.... which is no major performance sacrifice on a Busa!
They are a smooooooth machine to ride, suprisingly easy to handle, and an engine that's built to last!!!! You'll be a very happy owner.

Welcome Merc. I picked up my '12 model 'busa for $16.5k ride away last week, chuffed to bits with it. I thought that was a great price but $14,990 for a brand new '11 model should be a no brainer! I hope you have secured that bike, i'm not sure they come much cheaper than that.

Cheers,
Delirious.

Just an update - unfortunately my job fell over so I couldnt grab the busa for 14990 and that has now been picked up by some other lucky bugger!!! Just as well I guess as I was a little concerned about getting the slower blue model as truth be told I really wanted the faster white colour scheme. Couple of nice looking white ones on the net for sale but until some work comes up I will just have to live vicariously through this forum!

Anyone with a white model, low k's thinking of selling let me know.

cheers
