Just had a crash myself. Most of us have been there. Had a near miss or crash. How did you go? What did you learn? Has anything changed?

What's your story?...

Biggest near miss, Mr big fat bastard Goanna on the Old Pac 2011, banked over at 50 degrees on a single laned road and there he was across the road, he just moved out of the way, reckon I would of been gone if I hit him, the same again the next week. Goood to have a loud pipe to be heard coming. Last year had a head on with a granny that pulled out in front of me at a t-junction, went over her car landed helmet and shoulder first. Walked away from that one. Still going to court, she denies being at fault. Headbutted a crow on a ride, and a few other close ones. I'm a little careful now on the old pac, but see other riders go flying around corners with no safe outs.

Worst case of police brutality I have ever heard of. Did they compensate you adequately?

I have had a lot of close ones over the years but the funniest was about 28 years back.
I was on my way to work in the rain early hours of the morning and it was still dark a cop car is heading towards me in the opposite direction then all of a sudden he hits the brakes get its all side ways I think crap this dude is going to hit me so I gas it up to get out of the way and thank my luck stars he didn't hit me only to get pulled over by this cop and booked for speeding. Going around a left corner in the National Park (Sydney) back in 2005, doing about 70, cranked over moderately, had a fallen tree branch laying all the way across the road, about 2 inches thick. Relaxed muscles, weight on pegs, looked through the corner.

Bike jumped to the right about 1m (felt like 3m), onto the other side of the road, and kept turning in back to the left side of the road. No oncoming traffic, kept it upright, changed my undies when I got home.

not sure you would call this a near miss.. but definetly something that makes me stop and check weather these days LOL
A ride from Launceston to Coles Bay on east coast of Tassie up over Lake Leak in mid October. I was on my old GSXR750 a lot of years ago wearing my squid gear back then.. boots, jeans, t-shirt, denim jacket and fingerless gloves. There was a cold snap in hills that afternoon and was snowing as I got up near the top (needless to say I was bloody freezing) so I pulled off main road and went to local pub. I can still remember my mind freaking out as I stopped the bike out front and found my legs and hands were locked in position from the cold. Bike and me fell sideways and I was lucky not to break my leg or get serious burns.
Once the people in the pub stopped laughing they helped me out... took me many days to fully get he cold outta my hands

I have a recent one similar to Batfink. About a yr ago I'm off to Parkour as I do every Sunday. I wear my Parkour gear so no protection unfortunately, hey I don't crash anyway. :-)
I have my Dunlop volleys on.
Stop at a set of lights go to put my foot down and the shoe lace loop has tangled in the foot peg. Just managed to rip my foot down before I dropped the bike.

Always tie laced shoes in double knots with no big loops.
Lesson learnt.
Sometimes it's the stupid little things that can bring you unstuck.
