ok guys ,some might know ive got a 1999 busa,best bike on the earth by the way,
ok lets start ,when i bought the bike it had normal ngk plugs init ,so i thought iridium ,so i fitted iridium,this was in march,ive done around 400ks since then ,last weekendwent for a ride with a bunch of likly lads ,did 2089ks in 4 days,
1,week before the ride bike started dropping cylinders, miss firing etc ,so i pulled her apart reverse blew thepump with compressed air
2,fitted a new fuel line as the old one had the smallest split in it .
3,fitted a brand new 1999 fuel tank as well,
bike still missing ,drained out tank till 1 litre left init ,rode to localservo ,filled her up with E10,got out from the servo 1,2ksup the street bike stopped mis-firing great 2 days later went on the big ride thursday filled her up with 95 ,friday used 95, saturday ,filled it up with 98,at kancoban, bike started to mis-fire and wouldnt run on all 4 cylinders, managed to complete last 200k in 6th gear by only using 1 mill movement of the throtel to keep it on 4cyl
5. got back to pub pulled bike apart found nothing except bike had eaten iriduim plugs, regapped them for the 900k ride home
6,filled bike with e10,in cooma rode to canberra,refilled with 95 ,then about 5ks up the road bike ran perfect ,
7,refilled goulbourn with 95.got to pheasents nest refilled with 95 ,bike still going well
8, refilled at beresfield ,bike missing again,then got a little better but still little mis-fires
8, refilled taree on 95 bike ran rough to say the least till i arrived home
i have pulled out plugs there rooted ,injector no3 had water in and around the hole in the head were it sits,,so im going to sonic clean the injectors tomorrow and fit an normal ngk then buy bp 95 and see how she goes

Interesting.
I've only used BP98 in past and current Busa
and in the B-King. Never had a problem.
All go well, street, dyno and strip and I'm very
slack with my servicing.
Keep us informed how you get on.
I fuel up at the BP at Beresfield all the time (it's 2 mins from home) with Ultimate and never had a problem. I reckon the busier the servo is, the fresher the fuel coz they're always turning stock over. I think it'll be in the bike.

Met a guy at Cabramurra today on a zx14. He had just filled up at Khancoban and his bike was running like shit, dropping cylinders and he wasn't real happy
He was blaming the fuel at Khancoban. coincidence??
Caltex 98 because I have a caltex fuel card. If no caltex, I try and buy 98 only. busier servo, the better. pings on regular, but runs ok. my plugs have not been looked at in years and years.

On your busa recently, it may,but hope it has nothing , but c u in tathra bud not meaning to be rude but check the timing ,a bit of a dumb statement ,also my tos is fixed ,glued solid into one place ,the central ,telling a mechanic to check the timing on a bike that was running fine up until it was filled up with petrol, isnt on the money its left field,i travelled about 5ks then the bike played up ,and then it came good on the sunday morning in canberra for about 400ks ,so that blows that timing theory out the window,
plus as i posted when i lifted n#3 injector out of the head there was water in it the injector ,plus one iridium plug was rooted as in the electrode was melted and bent to one side n#3 again ,ive comp tested the motor and done a leak down test on the cooling system all is good,ive done everything i know ,now to clean the injectors ,fit new plugs,k&N air filter,ive cleaned the throatal bodies ,evenlooked into the bores with my lapra-scope ,nothing looks wrong ,also drained out the fuel tank totally empty ,pulled the petcock out fuel lines etc etc the lit is endless

don't like the sound of melted plug with bent tip. running so lean its melted and misshaped ???
only advantage Irridium plugs have over standard cr9e's is longer life, if your not getting that for whatever reason just buy the cheaper plug
i think your on the right track cleaning the injectors and testing for flow

i had to ride it so easy to keep it on 4 cylinders, the thing i noticed ,i couldnt here the injectors ticking away like they normally do ,ive got my headers heat wrapped so it made it easy to here them.but the ticking had gone quiet after khancoban.

Did you check the flow rate of the pump after you had cleaned it?
I googled this morning at work

Up came 6 possibly causes
Mismatched ignition system parts,was one
Wrong resistance of ingition bits
Hot or cold plugs
Good reading lotsa great fault findin tips
Your lucky you got home
Has the cylinder compression changed,
Machined head or cylinder deck height changed ??

I wonder if you had stock clocks plugged in
if it would have brought up any fault codes ?

no heads still in place havent altered it in any way shape or form
comp goes like this,1,165psi,2,160psi,3,165psi,4,170psi bad memory here.
motor has 108.000k

the voltage reg sits between the front and rear seat ,it has air flow,i
as the 06 tail has all stock k6 inner and outter plastics fitted ,also stock undertray
when i started it yesterday morn,to ride it to my workshop it was spluttering and carrying on when cold,
