But it hasn't yet, so let's just enjoy riding while we can!

Well thank f*** we don't have to rely on you to fight this bullshit - go and stick your head back in the sand Icon_rolleyes

Yeah you're right, I should be out protesting and making a difference. Australian politicians listen, right?

Look you're missing the point, It's not like I welcome bullshit like this, it's that I feel powerless. I've actually been on f*&^ing protests for various motorcyclist rights, and does anyone ever listen? NO.

So whinge if you like, on an internet forum, because the same amount of people will listen. If authorities decide they want to force motorcyclists to ride with fluro vests, there's no voice great enough to change their mind.

You do not have a voice, so accept it and enjoy what you can.

I don't really see what the problem with high vis is. They might be ugly but so what?

The bigger issue is, as stated by the douchetard who proposed the idea, no research has been conducted. There is no evidence it would change the accident rate one half of a poofteenth.

If they bring them in, we will wear them.

I agree with Sutur, protesting and making politicians aware of your opinion does fck all good, the polies will do as they please.

We DO have a voice.
We as a country are not as motivated as the likes
of the UK / France / Greece / Cyprus etc though.

I've seen French farmers get their way,
I've seen the UK population stop the "poll tax",
I've seen Germans turn back the anti-bikie club laws,
the current hi-viz laws in France are not 100% passed
and their have been HUGE demo's shutting down citys.

As a Pommie im quite suprised how happy Australian's
are to bend over and take it.

Be interesting to see the Bandito's and Hells Angels
putting there colours onto their new hi-viz vests though !

But that's just the point Tony, I was born half Australian, and moved over here from UK about 10 years ago. Believe me I know what you're saying, I've been to countless meets at ace cafe, brighton, box hill, chelsea bridge etc - and plenty of protests too. And it's f*&^ing great having such a powerful voice there, but it just isn't the same here.

The numbers aren't as large and political system doesn't even PRETEND like it gives a shit.

Riders here are the same as UK mate, they know they're being f****d but they're not given the same rights.

If someone wants to wear hi-viz then thats up to them BUT let it be the rider decide. I won,t wear one and i,m waiting for the day i see some rider picking his arse up off the ground after being hit so i can stop and say well your f###en hi-viz didn,t work did it arsehole. Kneejerk reactions to try and bring motorbike accidents down but first they need to train the tintops to be looking for use not just make a rule and expect it to solve the problem.
SPEED ISN,T EVERYTHING BUT IT SURE IS FUN.

Seems there's a lot of heat in this across all sorts of forums. Let's hope that there will be such a backlash they will have to rethink this. Seems there a common theme "I'm not wearing one, fine me". I think that's the stand I'll be taking. Perhaps, for the first time, we all may come together on this one? I saw a picture of Senior Sergeant Bill Gore and he looks like a first class tool, as expected! Nearly worth a ride to Wangaratta to give him the finger! Rob

What are the motorcycle body's like the MRA doing about this ? They claim to be our major voice but where is the input . We seem to lack representation with any TEETH, in this country .

This topic was only on the forum a few weeks ago.
I posted the "word for word" Vic Government transcript from the motorcycle safety council / Police meeting of exactly what was said and discussed about the new rule and guess how many members here even bothered to look.........1. Only a single member on the AHC forum that could actually give a crap of the facts in black and white straight from the people who said it.

Now lets get back to the whinging and blowing everything out of proportion shall we.
