The good RTA
#1
As most may have experienced, sometimes vists to to the RTA can be challenging. A recent visit proved no different. I purchase a bike that was Vic regoed. The Vendor was nice enought to let the rego run even though I lived in NSW. I went and got it Blue slipped. Payed the green slip (after taking out a second mortgage). Took the old Vic rego papers, reciept, etc and was told to go away, didn't care, given a pamphlet piss off go away.
Apparently it had been recorded as a repairable write off in Vic somewhere in a previous life.
A call to Viiu was met wth really ,really helpful people.
However what did present itself in the wash, was that even though it had been repaired circa 2006 and was inspected and approved By Vic roads, according to the person on the other end of the phone. Vic joined a national register in 2008.
Yet the status of the vehicle had not been updated to the data base.
Except of their diligence I would have had to go through the whole expensive, time consuming crap to get the bike cleared.
What did I learn?Keep yourself distracted so that you can stay on hold for 13mins without killing someone, or hanging up.
Also just because the person behind the counter tells you it is so. It aint necessarily so.

I went to the RTA at Charlestown a couple of years ago to return a couple of number plates from my old F100 and XLX Honda that I had taken to W.A with me, thinking they would be glad to get them back but I was treated like a criminal. Walked out still with the plates under my arm and felt likeKnuppel2.some barstard.

Thats why it doesnt end with the arse on the counter. we tend to think that they have us stuffed. I went back today armed with info from persons higher than her and she wanted to argue about and justify what she did. I hadn't even broached the subject. Stating It's not my job to ring anybody. I just told her it was a mute point, I wasn't interested and do WHAT SHE IS SUPPOSED TO. When I get my rego. And funnily enough. Not until I return the old plate. She had to have the last word. I will then write a formal complaint, Perhaps exercise our writes and send them notifications. I intend to send them even what I post on social media. Without naming the forums. Pissy part about it. I actually as stated dealt with the Good RTA. A lady spent a good hour and a half chasing things up for me. Just not the one at the counter. Ironicly, if she hadn't been such a bitch about it. I wouldn't have made the call.
