Landspeed racing without salt

Anyone keen to run on a long flat salt free lake ?

Queensland DLRA members are organising a meeting in late Aug on a claypan
you would need to join the QTA, and register a team

Unfortunately i will be on a plane

Who will be the first 200mph bike on dirt in Aussie ;)

Another post that didnt work Will try again.Welcome
The Goat is IN! Need 1 more Busa to create Group Hayabusa!Yes
It's on. Not pretend. $1000 per bike , not rider.Wtf If you are magnanimous (stupid) enough to share your bike. You can halve the costs. Sounding better now eh? There will be plenty of runs.Clap
We are based near Ballina. Full workshop. A place to crash. What does this mean? Nothing really, we are no where near the track. But a shit load closer than Sydney or Melbourne. HA! Come on! Let your boys hang. Or the female equivilant. Not that thers anything wrong with that!Lol2

If we can confirm a full team, I'm in!

Would have to look at what changes I'd need to make to the bike first to pass inspection.

Bike requirements are here
http://www.dlra.org.au/rulebook.htm
Not too difficult, need to drill some holes to wire tie axles and axle clamp bolts
wire tie the sump bolt
lanyard , dont use the jetski type get a good 2 pin like these http://www.orientexpress.com/c-258-ignit...tches.aspx
check your tire compatability
fire sleeve for the non valved fuel lines (pre pump turbo and 99-00 ) use 1/2"sleeve for 3/8 " hose http://motors.shop.ebay.com/sch/eBay-Mot...tml?_sac=1&_nkw=fire+sleeve
Modified hi comp bikes and turbo get good race gas and tune to it, your potentially WOT for a min or 2 near the rev limiter , dont short cut your reliability for a few $
leaded fuels like c 16 are gas class , oxygenated power adders like mr109 are fuel class
traction is not like a hard surface, nor is accelleration distance limited adding weight does not make you slower, hi powered bikes will need to add weight to go fast , esp if the swingarm is longer than std, fill the swingarm with shot, and bolt on weight , 100kg is better than 50
Don't slip the front forks through the tripple clamps more than you have room for, the suspension travel must equal the clearance and some , as soon as you get off the power and take away the torque of the motor the front will use up most of the suspension with downforce from air pressure , add braking and it could get nasty
Good luck , i'm still figuring if i can run there and still have time to fly to the US , pickup the bikes and make the BUBs meeting on the 25th ;)

Thanks Greg thats some good info. I had a quick look through the dlra rulebook earlier today...def. need a proper read through!
Might have a few questions for you later? I'll be looking during the week at anything the bike needs. shouldn't be much though.

I'm quite keen to do this...already told the wife I intend to go. I'd need to be back in Melbourne for the 25th though for a prior commitment.

Greg does that mean that you would constitute a member, or are you already organised somewhere else?

I Have spoken to Chris re a group of Busa's and said I'm in irrespective. We have 2 bike mechanics looking at coming, one of which has a Smokin SRDET. Not really a Busa, but another team member. Will sort it next week.

Cars have a much harder time meeting regulations, need roll cage, fire system, sometimes a chute , hans device etc, can't just turn up with your circuit or street car, needs to be specifically made to regulations, only have to remember Loundsys flight and roll at Calder , and he was going comparably slow , Cars actually take off quite well but they suck at landings

Quite a shame that out of 922 members, its almost impossible to get a single AHC team of just 5.
