my housemate has a gen2 and always leaves the hump off, with the stock gen1 or 2 ass, it just isnt right without the hump, imo

Mine stays on permanently. I like it more than having the pillion seat on. To me the hump is one of the trademarks of a Busa.
The only time I think it looks better without he hump is when it's a naked Gen1.

The old skool like the old look and the new skool like the aero look. It's purposeful. I love nailing it with your arse against the hump, chest on tank, looking at your shadow-and you realize why it's there. You snug right in and become part of the aero package.

I prefer my busa "humped".......but for the last 1.5 yrs I've had a very regular co-pilot, so my beloved hump has unfortunately been spending most of it's time lazing around in the garage, collecting lots of dust! Incidentally, my co-pilot [Caz, aka the 'busabitch'] likes a good hump, too...Pi_thumbsup

I'll throw my fence sitting 2c in and say that I like it both ways. The Gen 1 rear that is.
I could never bring myself to love the Dali-esque rear end on the Gen 2s.
