I have hurd it said that the sub frame mounting bolts are hollow and can break, and that people have replaced with a solid bolt. Is this what you have had happen?

Post a clear photo mate, of the whole area and then the exact spot of bolt and we'll be onto it in a heart beat.

Sub frame mount bolt, may have been overtightened ,loose or just fatigued, replace both top ones with new std bolts,

I put a warning post on the General board before, the administators should have made it a "sticky".
The 2 upper sub frame bolts shear right through. Especially if you crank up the highway miles with weight in your Ventura or other rear luggage bag, or, if like some that use this forum, are just fat cun*s.
Both went on me one night. My ar*e went down, & the subframe went down on the back wheel. Not good at 100kmph.
Here's what you do to prevent your possible death;
Take both those bolts out (the ones with the holes right through em).
Take em to a 4WD aftermarket cage driver shop.
Have them replaced with high tensile ones used in 4WD offroad suspension system.

That's them. Replace with the solid high tensile bolts and you'll never have to think about them again.

A Suzuki "shop" will probably put the same crappy "holy" bolts back in & claim that, "because they have holes in them that they are of high tensile strength". Absolute bullshi* !!!

Just a Question if I may?

Why High Tensile?
By memory only; Im of the belief that most Car manufacturers do not fit seats with 8.8 Hi Tensile bolts simply because in case of an accident, these bolts may snap, rather than stretch, during/because of impact.
So with that in mind.........should these bolts be Hi Tensile?
Are they Hi Tensile as per Standard?

Maybe just replacing them with Solid Bolts (non Hi Tensile) may be best?
Just putting it out there. :)

Hi Tensile bolts will not fatigue like mild steel bolts or mild steel OEM Suzuki bolts with holes in them. Look at the photo. Nothing about a bolt being able to stretch like a mild steel bolt, but all to do with shear strength. With Kevin, only 1 bolt sheared through fatigue , with mine, both sheared through fatigue at the same time with weight in Ventura bag, & I never went over a road bump when it happenned.
Suzuki's holy sub frame bolts are a poor man's hi tensile bolt.

And for get the Ventura luggage....what if you regularly Carry the missus on the back?! I bet she weighs more than the luggage!

Thanks for the heads up Kevin. I just removed both of mine and measured one up. They are M10 bolts 30 mm long with a 1.25 mm thread pitch. I ran a file over one and they seem harder than mild steel. I think I will price the genuine bolts and replace them every so often as they have a shank just under the head that is almost 11mm in diameter and
6mm long. This shank is a snug fit in the subframe. Anyway thats the bolt dimensions should you decide to use some solid bolts. Thanks, Paul.
