i think pete everett ran a 9.8 off the factory floor with a gen 2 also Shawn Giles ran a 9.9 on his first pass plus Gadson is kawasaki's main man. Of course the results were always gunna be a little towards the Kwaka. A great effort by Kawasaki to bring out the bike they have. Now lets see what the Suzuki boys can unleash...........Drool

Now just waiting to see how long it will take for a new contender to emerge?

A bit of history.

In 1999 the ZX12r was due for release but Suzuki dropped the Busa Bombshell onto the market so Kawasaki delayed the release 12 months & went back to research & development for the sole purpose of beating the Busa.

In 2000 the A1 ZX12r was released & yes officially it was a busa beater.
The Governments of the day said this is just ridiculous & if these hyper sport bikes aint restricted they will be banned so from 2001 all faster bikes were restricted.

So no the Busa has not held the tittle for the last 12 years & never had a chance to come back because of the new restriction law.

Actualy the Busa does still hold the title and ALWAYS WILL hold the title because the 'official' title for fastest production motorcycle ever made ended with the Busa.

From memory the official figures were
Kawasaki ZX-12R Ninja 305km/h - 189mph
Suzuki GSX 1300 R Hayabusa 300km/h - 186mph

But if it is on wikipedia it must be true Lol3

actually watching the video gadson ran 143 mph on the busa and 146mph on the 14. Considering the busa is 4 years old and 100 cc's less i think it still can hold its head high. The stock busa clutch was always a pain for drag racing

Now ya have made me go googling instead of working

According to this dude the Busa & Ninja are at the bottom Clicky

So we all ride the slowest bikes out the top 5 Lol2 Lol2

Personally I don't care which one I ride as they are both fantastic bikes.

BTW I do own 3 Busas & only 1 ZX12 so that must say something positive for the Busa Pi_thumbsup

Still very ugly, not a lot of cosmetic changes, I wouldn't swap my busa for this even if it was faster :P

LOL!!! I just noticed they even put 'Flames' above the front headlight and all over the lower fairing, should appeal to anyone that has hairy dice hanging from their rear vision mirror :)

When I bought my first bike I specifically asked for the fastest production bike ever made. They sold me a Harley and I was garuanteed at the time that no other bike gets made quicker Pi_tongue

Ok, I was going to do a deal on a busa with the 2011 Zuke clearance sale, and now I am going to hold
on and see, busa or new zx14 ? might as well buy the most potent bike I can get my hands for my budget,
also like the idea of switchable stability control. the reason I was leaning to busa is that on searching google
I read some owners zx14's tended to run very hot. So I need to see how good the new zx14 is, I don't want
to be their guinea pig, and also see if Zusuki responds soon with busa III.
Zuke always comes up with winners in power and reliability, that is why after much research and initially
wanting a Yamaha (until I read a few corrosion horror stories about their big outboards), I bought a zuke
300hp outboard for my new boat project.

The big thing to consider here too is look at "bike sales" to get a gauge on if there is more of a certian bike, Also to gauge to brand of bike that is holding its value better than the other? For me it was simple, there are more Busa's by a long way than ZX14's and they are holding there $$'s allot better. The other thing for me was track record of the Busa's, there are more bike's on the road and more years for real world and real life testing and refining.

I reckon they have hired the Suzuki exhaust designer (who hopefully was out of a job after the Busa effort!).
