TRE....on a gen 2...do they work??
#1
Hi all.... I have a gen II busa that I want to de - restrict the top end, however I want to keep the original gear indicator working if possible. Does anyone recommend a certain type of TRE that works and doesnt have any negative side affects??
I am very happy with the way my bike runs and wont consider the TRE if it changes my tune or idle or otherwise EXCEPT taking the restriction off the top end....
Hope someone can help or recommend a certain product??
Thanks in advance! Very Happy

The gear limiters and top speed restriction can be switched off directly from your ecu. No TRE required!!

If your happy with it now you would be over the moon with it all set up and mapped as it gives it quicker sharper throttle response with smoother and more lineal power delivery. Pi_thumbsup

Thanks so far 4 the response!!!
With all due respect I am not interested in re mapping or changing my original ECU settings, I simply want to take the restriction off this bike WITHOUT touching any other settings. I feel if the TRE doesnt do what I want I can always easily unplug it from the system and I am back to what i know....original and untouched...
Thanks and hope to hear from members that have used the TRE successfully??
cheers..Very Happy

for what a TRE does, the same thing via flashing is pretty much just as simple as plug the pc in 'tick the boxes' and click save (flash). If you don't like it, plug the pc into the ecu again and re-tick the boxes and you are back to 100% stock settings again. You dont have to have a full remap or change anything else if you dont want to.

Also to get a TRE such as "Healtech's X-TRE" that retain the gear indicator functionality, you will need to CUT and SPLICE into the wiring on your ecu. More damaging than a flash will ever be!!. There is no going back to "original and untouched" once you've installed it. A plug 'n' play TRE will show the bike to be in a particular gear all time.

I've personaly installed and used a TRE on my previous bike and also personaly removed the restrictions on my Busa's ecu via ecueditor and would choose to flash the ecu 1000 times over before using any aftermarket TRE again.

Don't be concerned that flashing could screw your ecu or alter the way your bike runs to the point of never going back to stock settings again. It's not like that at all.

jeffro, Forums are a great tool to keep in touch and even get advice, but unfortunatley you dont always get the awnser to the question that you may have been asking for! Very Happy

In awnsering your question, I have a K9 with PC/V, Wideband Reciever, BMC Air Filter, and yes......a TRE.
My TRE, (an X-TRE), is a "Healtech" Brand, cant actually remember but i think i bought it via ebay once i knew what i was after, (check them out on the net)
Its 100% Plug n Play and has no negative affect on your Gear Position Display!

Hope this helps?

Matt.

I had to cut a wire to the ecu and add the X-TRE in (as per Healtech's install instructions). Yours was plug n' play?????
I also found that with just the X-TRE installed the bike ran quite rough at certain RPM's and needed a PC-V to sort it out.
The X-TRE did it's job, no doubts about that, but by itself was not the best without changing AFR's.

I'm still only learning to flash the bike by trial and error on my own Busa. I'm confident enough to be messing with my own bike, but am very hesitant to do anything to someone elses. Pete is still the best option to get it done correctly.

Sorry for the thead hijack jeffro.

If you feel like a trip to Shepparton, i can flash it while you watch, generic stuff like turning on and off functions are easy, without changing the tuneup, i can even set my spare ecu for you to try before i touch yours.
