Bike want start.
#1
Hello guy's,
Now it's my turn to say my bike will not start.

Ok rode from say Lithgow to Wentworth Falls, stopped for a pie at the German shop. Finished the pie. Put the gear on and unlock the steering lock and tried to start the bike. Nothing!!!!! Turned the key back and on nothing. put the stop switch up and down nothing side stand up and down nothing. Took the key out and back in again and turned on all the lights worked and it started.

Got to my brothers place about mid day and was about to leave about 4pm. same problem. Key in and out nothing. did the same as before nothing. then it started.

for two days I have pulled switch's a part that is the starter button clutch leaver switch and side stand. Each time I started the bike it started. checked the battery leads all ok earth ok codes nothing.

So far nothing has happened starts every time. I even got it hot and turned to steering lock for 1/2 hour and three hours. starts every time I'm stuffed. Battery charging ok 14.25 at 4000RPM.

all I can say now is I may have fixed the problem or it still maybe there as each time now I go to start it she boots into life. We will see how it goes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All lights were on the cluster and head light was on too each time I turn the key on to start.
Thanks John

Check clutch and stand switchs for crap and give them a good lube and put them through heaps of actions to loosen them up if there sticky.

Has it had the loom recall done / checked ?

Do you have aftermarket levers? If so, I find that if you set the clutch lever to 4 or less the switch doesn't engage...

Pan,

I do have after market levers and are set on #4
I'll change it to #3 and see if it works or even #2 Thanks!!!!

FasterFaster!!

I had the recall done only for the rec/fryer. I did ask about the loom and he said it would ok, but it was up for that recall as well.
So I will contact the dealer and see if it is that or will he check it.

Thanks again for you help guy's I am stumped to know what it is. I have as I said cleaned the stand switch and the leaver switch. every dam thing on the bike.

Thanks John

Dam, I didn't know that either! And I have an aftermarket clutch lever as well. At least I can keep an eye out for this problem too.

If they are the Chinese Pazzos, like mine, setting them to a HIGHER numer will engage the electric switch thingie, not to a lower number. Try #5 or #6 next time your bike doesn't start...

One of the SA guys (Greeny, King....maybe both of 'em) set the clutch lever in it's closest position as an anti-theft device coz the bike won't start....sorry if I've let the cat outta the bag boys, but it's a pretty good tip for those of us that run the Chinese shortys.

What about the small kill switch on the handlebars. I never use it but sometimes I bump it and it drives me nuts...maybe check thOse connections to if you haven't already.

Hate it when you don't actually find and fix the problem.... Never know if it'll come back when your in the middle of no where...

You must be feelin' pretty bad then. Not only did we pay $230 less than you, we got an inbuilt kill-switch for free Roll

If all of those fail to find a fault try your fuses and relays for corrosion and/or loosness...spray some WD40 in amongst them...I do this every now and then esp if I have just washed it.
Smoke me a kipper I'll be home in time for breakfast

You will get different symptoms for different switch or electrical faults
does the fuel pump prime , turns over but not start
or no fuel pump and immobiliser light on dash showing or
no fuel pump Chec on dash
doesnt even turn over
I would assume by saying Nothing it was no lights, no crank, no start
i would check the battery terminals first
