1. How old are you?
A lady doesn't tell.
2. What motorbike(s) have you owned and list them in order from 1st to current.
Z250B
CB750
Bandit 1200
Hayabusa
R1
Hayabusa
Hayabusa (current)
RGV250 (current)
GSXR750 (current)
3. What got you interested in riding?
I did it for environmental reasons, and fell in love with going really fast.
4. At what age did you get your first motorbike? What happened to it?
25ish, I sold it to buy the next one. I had no money.
5. What motorbike do you own now?
Hayabusa is my road bike, I have a GSXR750 and RGV250 trackbikes.
6. Do you think someone should have a good amount of experience before jumping on a motorbike that is over 500cc's?
Not necessarily, some LAMS (learner legal) bikes are considerably larger than 500cc, but their power to weight ratio makes them ride-able for an inexperienced rider. Power to weight is a better way of deciding what bikes inexperienced riders should ride than cc's. My RGV is a terror, and it is only a 250cc bike.
7. Do you know someone who lacked riding experience that has jumped onto a high powered bike and has had an accident?
Yes, most people who ride do.
8. What safety equipment do you believe should be worn at all times when riding a motorbike?
Helmet, after that it should be personal choice. Personally I wear at the bare minimum, helmet, jacket, gloves and boots, but I would not support legislating for compulsory gear, it is my choice to wear gear all the time.
9. Do you believe an experienced riders course would be effective for people just coming off of there P's?
Absolutely.
10. What do you believe some of the dangers of riding high powered motorbikes are?
Making mistakes. Things tend to happy a bit faster over 200kms/hr.
11. Have you ever personally been in a motorbike accident? What happened? (Optional)
Hit a kangaroo at dusk with a pillion. Did myself some damage, pillion was FINE (the ratbag).
12. In your opinion and based on your experience what advice would you give someone aged between 18 to 25 thinking of purchasing a high powered bike?
Depends entirely on the person. I have friends under 25 who own Hayabusas and I have encouraged them to do that. I have met 40 year old men who should not be in control of a motorised wheelchair (some who also own Hayabusas). Age is an arbitrary yardstick when it comes to bikes. No-one should be allowed to own a busa on their Ps.
13. What are your top 5 riding tips in order of importance?
Wear gear
Do as much training as you can
Don't drink and ride
Don't try and keep up with idiots and try to avoid the red mist if you can
Say yes to dumb adventures on bikes
Thanks for participating in my questionaire......

RE: QUESTIONNAIWhat motivates riders?
1. How old are you?
47
2. What motorbike(s) have you owned and list them in order from 1st to current.
DT175, GT185, RM250B, CBX1000B, XL500SB, GSX250, RGV250, Z1R1000, GS850G, another CBX1000B, CBR1000, Now current: GSX1300R(hayabusa) and yet another CBX1000B
3. What got you interested in riding?
Have wanted a motorcycle from as early as I can remember. I'd asked Santa for a motorbike from age 3.
Today I love the feeling of freedom riding gives you, the personal space, the absolute fun and thrill it produces, and the social side
4. At what age did you get your first motorbike? What happened to it?
10, shared it with my brother - we totally destroyed it
5. What motorbike do you own now?
GSX1300R Hayabusa.
6. Do you think someone should have a good amount of experience before jumping on a motorbike that is over 500cc's?
No. It should be up to the individual to purchase what they want.
7. Do you know someone who lacked riding experience that has jumped onto a high powered bike and has had an accident?
Yes, but he was going slow and it would have happenned to him on any bike. Accidents can happen even if you have all the experience in the world, and more experience does not always mean a better rider
8. What safety equipment do you believe should be worn at all times when riding a motorbike?
It should be up to the individual to wear what they want, although I do support helmet laws.
9. Do you believe an experienced riders course would be effective for people just coming off of there P's?
Yes, but not manditory
10. What do you believe some of the dangers of riding high powered motorbikes are?
Before you have an understanding of how they accelerate, they can get out of control quickly, and you sneak up on vehicles without giving them sufficient reation times to avoid you. Once you have control of it, they are exactly the same as a low powered motorcycles. In some instances they can even get you out of harms way easier than a low powered machine
11. Have you ever personally been in a motorbike accident? What happened? (Optional)
Many times whilst learning, mostly on the dirt. twice on the road, both through inexperience. Last one was 28 years ago!
12. In your opinion and based on your experience what advice would you give someone aged between 18 to 25 thinking of purchasing a high powered bike?
If you want it, go for it. Life isn't a dress rehearsal. Just remember, the bike doesn't make the rider. Treat them gently, or they WILL turn around and bite you!
13. What are your top 5 riding tips in order of importance?
1. Ride in traffic like you are invisible, the cemetary is full of riders who had the right of way.
2. Ride to your own limit, not on the edge, especially when with a group. If you want to see how hard you can go get to the track.
3. Read Keith Code's book and practice practice practice.
4. Riding is a club. Wave to you fellow bike riders, always offer assistance, you may need their help someday.
5. Don't dwell on it, but always be aware just how vulnerable you are, and always look for potential dangers and escape routes.
Thanks for participating in my questionaire......

1. How old are you?
35
2. What motorbike(s) have you owned and list them in order from 1st to current.
Yamaha YZ80C, Suzuki RM125, Kawasaki Kx250, Suzuki GSX650F, Suzuki Hayabusa
3. What got you interested in riding?
At first growing up it was just a muck around on dirt bikes but later in life it was time spent with Biker Gangs, My Wife and the crappy Public Transport System that got me into road bikes.
4. At what age did you get your first motorbike? What happened to it?
12. I don't know what happened to it.
5. What motorbike do you own now?
Hayabusa
6. Do you think someone should have a good amount of experience before jumping on a motorbike that is over 500cc's?
Yes and No. It completely depends on the individual.
7. Do you know someone who lacked riding experience that has jumped onto a high powered bike and has had an accident?
No
8. What safety equipment do you believe should be worn at all times when riding a motorbike?
Full leathers, helmet, gloves, motorcycle boots.
9. Do you believe an experienced riders course would be effective for people just coming off of there P's?
Any course for any rider would be effective. If a motorcyclist hasn't got the grasp of riding by the time they finish their P's they simply should not be riding at all.
10. What do you believe some of the dangers of riding high powered motorbikes are?
Rapid acceleration to extremely high speeds. That is the ONLY danger. Any other danger is the same for any sized motorcycle.
11. Have you ever personally been in a motorbike accident? What happened? (Optional)
Yes. A car suddenly jumped lanes and hit me while on a freeway in heavy traffic. I was able to regain control, stay on the bike and get into the emergency lane. How I did that without hitting any other vehicle I do not know. 3 days later I was approaching a sharp right hand corner at speed and it was unkown that from the earlier incident the throttle was damaged and locked open so I could not slow down. I entered the corner and tried to make it through but was unable, so I dropped the bike, let go and it hit a pole. Bike was all but totaly destroyed, I recieved only very minor injuries on both occassions and was wearing FULL protective gear both times.
12. In your opinion and based on your experience what advice would you give someone aged between 18 to 25 thinking of purchasing a high powered bike?
Ask yourself WHY you actually need a high powered bike and if you can't give yourself a sensible and realistic answer then you shouldn't be considering one.
13. What are your top 5 riding tips in order of importance?
Wear appropriate gear, Ride often, learn self control, enjoy the experience and ride your own ride.
