Brake pads on a K8

Hi guy's.

This busa I bought has 7049K's on the clock and checked the front and rear pads and have to replace them.

Is this the norm for brake pads on a K8 to be just about stuffed with 7049K's??????????

Have the pads reached their end life? Or you are feeling faded brakes.

Usually under normal riding Brakes tend to last for 20-30000 KMs if not more

Hi Bill,

I'm going to remove the pads tomorrow as you can see there is not much left on the pad. Simmo said to check them and see what they are like and if the grove is gone get a new set.

I ride hard everywhere and I got 20000 out of the OEM pads. I then put HH+ pads on and only got 10000, but the bike stopped like nothing else. Mind you the HH+ pads cost me $160, but well worth it.

Sorry to trouble you but where do you buy the HH= pads from is it Balmain M/cycle store??

I removed the rear pads and there is no groves left on them and they are a little under 1/8" left. I don't want put them back on and ride as if the pad comes off the back plate I'll stuff my rotor.

John,

Try to get these from some inexpensive local store or US or eBay. I would also try Kawasuki as he sometimes has stock of some good quality pads.

But (I may be wrong) I dont think that no groves is the only indication of a wornout pads - as they do have indicators like the tyres and also the shim which makes a hell of noice once the pad has reached its limit.

This looks like the last rider was a heavy rear brake user.. must be riding in India or just motocross bikes..mmmmmm

This is for a rear set you will have to get the part number for the front ones, I have it at home somewhere will look for it later if needed

That prompted me to check mine. Almost 6000km and the rear ones -OEM are like new and the front - Brembo still good for another 10000km. Always thought they should last about 15-20K. Maybe you got some faulty batch or something Confused

john, do your rotors have a blue ish tinge to them ? if they do this may explain why the pads are worn.

John, There could be another reason for it. Check if your rear brake pedal is adjusted correctly. You may be touching/resting your foot on it all the time and braking slightly. With busa's power you might not even notice it. Biker

Hi guy's, I'll get back to you later as my ride on Saturday starting at 5AM in the really cold and wet from Sunny Corner, I now have some like the flu or cold but in my chest and head is falling off.
