Stator cover

Since my fall a few months ago have decided to finally replace the damaged stator cover with a woodcraft one. It sure looks stronger with a sacrificial piece of aluminum piece if I ever drop it again Scary is there any secrets to changing the cover out? Chris

Wear some gloves mate . When the cover get's close to being on (inch away) the magnet's will rip the cover out of your hands & slam shut . If you have a bit of skin hanging over the edges when this happens it fukin hurts ,so be aware .Yes ,I found out the hard way .

Do not forget to use a new gasket. Oh, and make sure both locating pins are there (sometimes they get stuck in the cover). Pi_thumbsup

I did my Woodcraft Stator in Dec. Damn good quality stuff!!.
I used blue thredlock on mine which is similar but you don't need a gas axe to get the bolts out again. It will lock the thread but you can still crack it when needed.

I just replaced both covers on my 14 and just bought some black gasket goo that the mech said they use. About $25 and you could do a whole motor with one tube. You put it on, do the cover up finger tight, wipe off excess, wait an hour for it to cure then do up to spec torque. Beats the crap outta gaskets. Just as easy.

There are different strengths of "threadlocker"......use the low strength one, you don't need a heat torch and fifteen foot piece of pipe on a breaker bar to get the buggers undone.

Thanks Beau, a new gasket came with the Stator cover so I might as well use it. Like the look of the cover, bloody solid.
