At the moment the specialist has the traction bands set so I can open my mouth about 5-8mm and he has told me to start practicing opening my mouth. For the past 5 days I have been dilligently stretching my mouth open until it hurts.
And yesterday it payed off, I had my first counter lunch!!
I had to have grilled fish as I still cant chew, and I had to soak the fries with the slices of lemon so they were soggy enough to tongue into mush and swallow.
But the best bit was I had my 1st beer in almost 2 months. OMG!! It was probably the best thing I have ever tasted. I even got a buzz off it
Ah shit, how did I post it in this thread, can an admin wack this in general please.

I got extra brave and took the family out for Thai last night, I had to stick to the mushy stuff and a whole fish in curry paste (drool), I ended up with bits of chilli stuck in my bracers and in the broken teeth, as much as it hurt the sensation of eating solids far outweighed any pain.
I go back for another traction adjustment tonight, and I think he will be closing my front teeth back up again to centre everything up again, so i9 will make the most of it today while I can.

A liquid diet sounds just great! Jack Daniels for breakfast, Jimmy For Lunch, Jack again for dinner! *Sigh* that the world could be so perfect!

Well he has had my traction bands at the very back of my mouth for almost 2 weeks now so I have been able to eat a little more.
I have gotten a lot more adventurous with my food, chicken isnt too bad if its cut up into tiny pieces, lamb burger patties seem to be ok as they break up but the beef ones were tough to tongue to pieces, soft fruits like water melon, peaches, mango, bananas, etc are all good too. Salad is a no go (try eating a piece of lettuce without chewing it) and steak is still a long way off but the cravings are strong.

hey #CAS#....
just wondering how this freak accident, and the ensuing modified diet, has affected your body weight????
I'm guessing if you were carrying a few extra kilo's before the accident.....you've possibly trimmed a lot of that off by now???
...always lookin' for the silver lining,
baz

Baz, I weighed in at 118kgs on the 1/1/11, I was training and dieting to lose weight and had gotten to 108kgs when I broke my jaw. Since then I have gone to as low as 92kgs, but I am now hovering at 95kgs. I lost a lot of body fat my abs are showing again, but my body also cannibalized a lot of lean muscle too and my arms look a bit girly. I will be hitting the gym pretty hard once I am able to so I can shed the rest of the fat and gain some muscle tone back.
