That's generally how they operate unfortunately....my old man got booked about 20 years ago the same way.....following a line of cars that were all speeding and the cop pulled him from the end of the queue and gave him a ticket...the old man went off his nut but done him no good.

Feel for you! It's straight out revenue raising and has absolutely nothing to do with safety. In fact surely it's safer to drive/ride to the conditions than to drive and concentrate on the speedo and not the surroundings!

F@#&ing pricks!!!!

I got booked for 10 k's over whilst riding in a line of traffic,I wrote a letter in and explained how I was in a line off traffic with a car sitting up close behind me and had no way of pulling over etc etc and they dropped the fine.
Don't be scared of writing in or going to court because you will have to pay anyway and it doesn't cost anymore [besides you're time]

Then I'm screwed forever with my record. But I agre with wrighting a letter, if you are over 40-45 yrs and have good history-everyone makes mistakes. And saves a shitload on lawyers! I could have another Busa if I'd have a clean sheet. You can only change the now and future...

Sorry to hear that Rob,

Mate, you will have to park the busa and get the rgv out. At least you know when you are speeding on the little beast (unlike the busa .. they idle above the speed limit Lol3)

Do you have any points left ??

Can they legally book you if other vehicles could be influencing the reading ?

Only really if they "observe" your speed by keeping pace with the bike and observing their speedo, or by claiming Expert status by years of experience and judging your speed by observation. That really means that your bike was speeding regardless of what the other vehicles are doing.
I thimnk we've all benn there and done that mate.
I was riding in front of a red Jaguar years ago on the highway between Sutton Forest and Gouldburn with another bike behind the jag. A Highway patrol yobbo signalled be top dpull over, he then fell back beside the other bike after waving the jaguar on, and pulled the bike over. When I asked why he had not pulled the Jag over, he said that was no excuse for speeding. Booked both bikes. Arsehole!

when i was 19 and on my first busa i wrote a particularly nasty letter regarding a speeding fine i got when i was picked out of a line of cars infront and behind me for speeding and then was on the side of the road for an hour while the highway patrol man went over my bike and license history etc etc etc for a <15kph above the speed limit offence. I stated facts about harrassment due to age and lifestyle choice(riding a bike) and how none of the cars around me even the ones that had over taken me and where travelling faster where pulled over and how that hour on the side of the road ment i was subjected to riding home in the dark and cold of a canberra winter blah blah blah. about 6 weeks after sending the letter i recieved a letter of appology for the harrasment with a late notice for the fineRoll i then responded to there letter with a copy of there letter asking if that was admission of guilt regarding police harrassement and heard nothing more of it and i thought WOOHOOO i beat the bastards...........until they threatend to cancel my license and regoLol3 they did apparently reprimand the officer but i doubt it and i still had to pay the fine
Regards

I have gotten off that way as well when copper didn't know what to say when my solisiter asked him to guess the speed off the tip of his ruler as he flashed it past him. I had asked the duty solisiter to throw a cricket ball at him and let him guess the speed, he thought it was a good idea but improvised with the ruler.Lol3

Been there, done that mate, he offered me the inside of a cell for questioning his finely calibrated eyes, mind you I had asked him if he had been gang raped by a gang of motorcyclists at Bathurst during the Bathurst bike races riots in the early 80s! - mind you this was a long long time ago - I still have little or not time for the NSW Highway Patrol. Concrete heads, 0ne and all!
