New bike

I have been after one of these for years, but they are either so far gone they could never be repaired or they have been restored and cost a fortune.
Picked this up for under $600.

Plan is to restore her and rego it, I will use it around locally and teach the misses and kids to ride.

I rember we had a telephonist that rode one of those to and from work. Her bum cheeks was so big it looked as though she had pannier bags on it!

PM sent.
While on that note, if anyone else knows of where I can get my hands on bits for these old classics please let me know. While the intention is to keep this one in reasonably stock condition, I would love to get hold of a shitter with a good frame to go all out custom on.

Got her home this morning, its in better condition than the ebay pics made out. Starts and runs.
Has a few bits and pieces missing but I have found a site that sells cheap reproduction parts. http://www.dratv.com/index.html Check out the prices for full replacement motors Idiot2
The alloy bits are tarnished but undamaged and should polish up nice. Most of the chrome has small pits and will need redoing, so I will need the contact for the club's recomended chrome guy in Sydney. And the paint will either need touching up and a polish or respray, I wont know till it gets stripped down for a better look.
I have the pics on my phone, but I am having trouble putting them onto the pc, i'll get some with the camera and wack em up.

As you can see she is pretty dirty it sat in the guys shed for years without being moved. He put fuel in it and gave it a kick and it started 3rd go.

Stock motor, needs a good clean blows a little smoke but runs well, done a couple of laps around the yard without incident.

The chrome on the wheels is unmarked, but as you can see the alloy on the fork tubes and brake drums are tarnished to hell and need a good scrub and polish. Most of the alloy is the same.

So thats my new project. Until I get some money back from my health fund and medicare and buy another Busa.

Cas the ebay 140cc motors fit straight in ,local guys do a postie charity ride annually and hot them up so they can maintain 100kph ,last year was to Alice Springs , they just about all made it ;)

Thanks Maj, I still can't get over how cheap new parts are for these things. Found an alloy swingarm +2 over and wide enough to fit a 140 tyre for $350. I'm thinking this thing might not be stocker for long.

Been doing a bit of homework Maj, looks like I bought the only model that that the cheap Chinese motors don't fit in. Well they do fit but I will have to modify the frame, a couple of extra holes and a few shims should do it apparently.
I have found a 150cc 4 speed manual clutch oil cooled motor, brand new for $399 from the states. I should be able to source a local distributer that will do them for under $500.
