If you have the nozzle touching the metal on the side of your tank opening while refueling, this grounds it yeah? Think it's in the manual.

Can't believe this thread has gone on for so long....what's the big bloody deal about taking ya helmet off? Stop being sooks and just take it off... how much does it really put you out? If it bothers you that much, retire the bike and drive the car! This is ridiculous.

I thought on the weekend I might ride my push bike up to the servo and leave my helmet on while putting air in the tyre and see if they turn off the compressorLol2

Its the underlying issue, what happens next? Its a bit like the airport security crap; if they targeted the problem people (which they already can) then the rest of us could be left alone.

We don't live in a democracy, we live in a state ruled by minority groups lacking any vestige of IQ amongst any one of them. Anarchy is the way, brothers unite!

(I feel better for that, especially after reading comments from that soft little pee wee editor of AMCN today.)

On the filling up subject .. Im curious, does anyone else fill their bike while sitting on it??
This is a safety issue .. not management being a pratt. Static electricity can jump from the finger to the nearest earth (your vehicle) and ignite the fuel vapours. I know where i'd rather be if there was a fire .. not sitting on the seat with a lap full of flames.

Not very well thought out argument bloke

If the bike is not resting on the stand it is not earthed. Rubber tyres hey.
You earth both you and the bike when you grab the bowser. and again when nozzle touches the tank.

Far more chance of a static spark if you are not connected to the bike ie:sitting on the thing. Near to 40 years I have been filling while sitting on it. Never a moments cause for alarm and I am not about to change.

still dont see how you can fill a glass on a 20 degree angle.

real reason is they dont want you riding of. yet again you are being labeled a thief
