Photoblocker

Anyone know if this stuff works? Have been informed by someone that it does in fact work but the source of this information was unreliable at best Lol2

Not sure, tenacious....but at that price, it wouldn't hurt much to find out!!! Undecided

One thing I DO know is that it seems to react to FLASH.....so if the camera is infra red (...with no flash)....it prolly ain't gonna help much!? Police

For the money...definately worth a try, but!! Pi_thumbsup

Hair spray was proven not to work by the supergeeks on Mythbusters a while back. From memory they also tested the commercially available "flash reflector" sprays (which may include products like photoblocker) and they found that they failed under test conditions. I heard that a thin smear of Vaseline across the number plate/ number plate protector works, but haven't tried it myself. If someone works out what will reflect the flash, post it here immediately!!! Maybe someone has worked out how to mount a flux capacitor to a bike so that when being chased, you can go back in time ten minutes and take a different route?

1 of these;

STEM-02R1

http://www.motorcycleradar.com/products_...tm#3-10105 Univ Stem

& 1 of these, just download the updates every so often. Totally legal on Australian Roads with a $10 TDK headset from Tandy or Officeworks.
Can also set it at a lovely Shiela's voice that tells ya "Overspeed" when you've exceeded 140 kmph as if you get busted on a public road exceeding 145 kmph you'll get shafted under the "anti hoon" legislation & the bacon can tie ya Busa up to the wharf;

C100

Came in most handy when I got me new Busa after getting out of the brain injury unit because I'd forgotten where they all are & to this day, still doWm

There is a relatively easy and 100% effective solution that will prevent taking a photo of your number plate with the flash. Simply install a small flash unit at the top of the plate (pretending to be a plate light) with the optical trigger sensor near it. Once it is tuned (the settings of time delay are correct) it will simply flash back at the camera overexposing the photo. It will not even show what it was. You can do that also with the infrared as well (need to know the wavelength that the traffic camera operates on) The crude and primitive method would be just a big heat source like a halogen globe (just covered to stop the visible light getting out. I have never posted this and you have never heard this from me as I know nothing Pi_freak

That only means that they use a Doppler effect to calculate your speed. It is apparent frequency shift caused by vehicle moving towards it - frequency goes up or away fron the camera - frequency decreases. The rate of change is used to calculate your speed. Pretty much all radars work on this principle. That is for detecting part. Not much you can do there without some fancy work electronics. Still possible but not efficient way. What we are after is making their photos a dudes that can not be used to prosecute you.
For the ones with the infrared flash (you do not even know your photo was taken) one need a wavelength of the infrared light that their cameras using to "see" you. Alternatively you could of course use some wide band flashback but the efficiency would be lower.

When I will have a time I will build one just to demonstrate how easy it is. I am not sure about legalities of it and do not want to put the Club into a hot water or anything for tolerating such unpure thoughts. So it will be just purely technical demo.

A mate of mine sprayed similar stuff on his camaro plates. After about 3 months you couldn't read the plate at all. From memory, it had a similar effect as paint stripper .. just a lot slower process. This was a few years ago, so technology may have improved.

I like the flux capacitor idea .. would be no good on a harley though .. As you need to get up to 88MPH Lol2

it's for show use only Coolsmiley Mind you thats a confusing demo they have, as it states above it flick a switch and the plate turns black... whatever.Nerd

Back to the spray, I have seen a car with it's plate sprayed with something, probably the photoblocker spray.
It was night, and it was extremely obvious the plate was sprayed with something. Under certain conditions with my headlight on it the plate was unreadable, and sometimes appeared negative, ie black and white swapped. It was so obvious a cop would surely pull you over for it.

I have considered this type of spray in the past, but having see this car's plate, there is no way I would use it.
I pity the fool who goes out tryin' a' take over da world, then runs home cryin' to his momma!
