Hi all,
I've got HID in the low beam but want to up the high beam to match and was thinking of a HID plug and play H9 65W bulb.
My questions are-1 will it create to much heat-2 will it be bright enough-3 will it be to strong wattage?
Not electrically savy so any thoughts would be good from people that know.

Not sure, Beau. I use this kit:
http://www.motorcyclehidlights.com/suzuk...asts-p-209 , with H7/9005 6000K bulbs. It is insanely bright and I haven't had any heat buildup issues.

Beau HID's firstly produce less heat than halogen as light is created by an arc not a burning filament and 65 W may be to bright as light produced is 3 times that of halogen. I would probably not go over a 55W ballast and even then oncoming traffic will hate you.

It's for the high beam only. So I want as bright as I can get.
Didn't think a 65W bulb would be that bright that It would be annoying...

HID's are designed for low Beam as they take a while to reach full brightness, they don't cope well with being switched on and off then on again.
Using one for High Beam will shorten it's service life.
I am assuming you don't intend to ride around with High Beam on constantly as this would be likely to annoy the crap out of other road users and our friends in Blue.

Silly question but why do you need an on/off for a permanently on light? Or did you include the switch to be able to go without a headlight?

So I can have it switched off for start up. Was reading on another post about current draw when starting, kickback on the engine damaging the starter motor etc if the battery isnt fully charged. Plus it's so bright I think if I had it left on during the day then it would possibly attract unwanted attention from the old bill. If I want a light on during the day I can still run main beam, I have that on a modulator.

I am considering getting that kit for myself now
though I do not think I would be brave to ride at night outside of the city. Cool mod nevertheless.
Question regarding the on-off switch - dosen't you light go off by itself when you start the motor? Mine does

I just hold the start button then turn key on- no light activates -then pull the clutch in to start it. No drain on battery at all.
