I remember a mate buying an early Busa, probably one of the first in the country. Picked mine up today...why did I wait so @$%%^&& long?

Only 100kms to scrub the tyres so far, but it has so far exceeded my expectations (based on that hazy memory of a 10km ride on my mates so long ago) that I'm truly gobsmacked. It handles so much better than bikes that I've had before, such as VFR, FZ and YZF variants ( although I haven't had a full on sports bike for a few years).

Done the right thing so far and stayed below 5.5k rpm and thus 160km/h, but tremble to think what might be around the 8k+ range!

Ride position good, front brakes good, rear a bit wooden; but for the current ride away price it must truly be the 'sale of the century'.
Fuel guage hasn't reached near halfway yet, but I'd expect a tight bike like this to be a bit heavy on the juice.

They're only heavy on the juice if ya keep the throttle pinned wide open...otherwise, u can expect to get anywhere from 240-290 kms outta a tankful! Pi_thumbsup

Where are you? If you can, get to a track or drag strip. You'll love opening it up and going past 10,000rpm safely there!

Nice one,enjoy the bike,I rode for 33 years before I got my first Busa.
I will never look back!
At 100 km/h I can squeeze 400k's from a tank on the open road.

...and at an average speed of 124km/h at the track I go through a 20 litre container in a few sessions! LOL

Good advice and to be honest I wouldn't have considered a Busa for ride day scratching. Mind you, I know a couple of places where reasonable speed is not totally inappropriate..... but none that I'll mention on an open forum :-)

Sorry missed the where are you question, in the Perth hills. I gather that Busas feature disproportiantly in the road toll on a couple of my favourite roads.

Hey Belzybob Welcome

to the club and yes I would have to agree with what you said.

The first test ride that I did on a Busa was all those years ago back in 99 when Suzuki were doing their big road show to show off their new flag ship and can remember quite clearly to this day what I was thinking when I got back from a that very test ride.

9 yrs later in 2008 I decided to take the plunge and upgrade from my GSXR1100 to the mighty Busa. I have not looked back but in some ways I wished I kept my 1100 and put the motor into a 750 frame and had some fun with it but hey I have a busa now so how much fun do you want to have when you've got Horse Power like that on tap Lol3

Anyway enjoy there is quite a few of us on here from WA and there's also a couple of guys that are also up in the hills as well so look out for them. Hopefully we may see you on a ride some time soon.

Hi Belzybob,
I'm also a newb to this Bussa thing, and yep, I'm in love.
The running in thing will always get opinions racing. IMO, So long as you stay safe and be aware of others around you, then run her in on the hard side of the range . Maybe a starter level track day ? Get rid of the chicken strips ASAP Very Happy

The thing that impressed me was just how agile the Bussa is for it's weight / size.
Anyway, enjoy and I look forward to catching up for a ride some time.
