when cyclone tracy hit darwin my dad was up there helping as he was there with the army they shot looters on site back then ,

now day they get some soft c$&k slap on the wrist and a fine and sent on there way by the courts , looters should be shot on site

they caught 3 blokes this morning out in the bay trying to steal some of the boats that were washed out. Its hard to believe that some people (if you can call them that) could do that to the people who have lost so much. I am one of the lucky ones whose home was not effected by the floods.

Reports today in the news of people going door to door asking for donations to charity to help flood victims.
When asked to show ID or proof of charity they fled.

During the Canberra fires five years ago, there was a great story from a mate of mind. The day after the big fires hit and 500 houses were lost, we were all terrified, the fires were still burning and we'd been told to evacuate or prepare to stay and fight (those of us on the outskirts). Three teenagers (WHO WERE OLD ENOUGH TO KNOW BETTER) were found on O'Connor Ridge lighting a fire by a mate of mine who's house backed onto the reserve and a few other residents. They grabbed the teenagers and called the cops. Two cop cars turned up and they met the residents who were holding the three struggling and swearing teenagers.

The cops looked over the teenagers and agreed with the locals that they were complete bastards and would go to jail. Then the cops turned to the men who were holding them and said, 'there is something we need to do back at the car, we'll be back in about 5 minutes'. The locals all started to protest, they wanted the cops to take the bastards and put them in JAIL! The older cop turned to the men and said, 'you are not listening to me, we are going back to the car, we will come back and arrest them in 5 minutes' and walked away.

I know it sounds like one of 'those' stories, but it is true. I love old-school policing.

yeh heidi , one of those suburbs in A,C,T
was Holder , where a great friend of mine , very nice folks , lost the lot ..
as I remember his son was rebuilding but strain on the heart as well..

1st duffy then holder copped it , in one thunderous blast .
