I remember the reviewers who tested the bikes saying that the ZZR1100 and the GSXR 1100 were seriously wicked machines being able to do the 280 km/h speed runs with the ZZR100 just beating the suzi on the top end speed at 285 km/h. Those bikes were the rave of the time.
A number of bike magazines stated that the days of big bore sports bikes were numbered in 1994 reasons being pollutions regs, speed limits being enforced , and restrictors being placed on them, and that we did not need that kind of power on the roads. If they only knew where the GSXR was headed in engine size/ power/ technology 20 years later, how wrong they were.
Would like to see what would happen with the busa some 15-20 years down the track? Bigger engine, 300 tyre , turbo as standard......

I don't really understand why those things aren't options now. Manufacturers should be offering a basic bike with the option of things like carbon fibre bodies, shaft drive, turbos, fog lights, bling, wheels etc...

What do you reckon, when these 90's bikes were maxing out 285km/h in the mid 90's derestricted, and now the new model busas are limited to 285km/h, unrestricted they can do 310 + thats at least a 25 km/h gain , the next 20 years should we see a busas hitting close to the 350 km/h mark?
Over the years bikes have been given an extra gear, so I reckon with the busa, 7-8 speed box, turbo engine, bigger tyres might be more than a possibility.

Actually the new 'busa will get 100 mpg and run on vegetable oil. Max speed of 110kmph (anything else would be illegal - and unethical!!)

No f....... way, never will a busa run veggie oil. Period..
If they are making cars quicker every year then so be it for the bikes,
2020 Busa, future possibility;
2litre ceramic turbo charged engine, 250 kw, 200 nm, 260 tyre, weight, 180 kilos wet.
0-100 km/h - 2 seconds, 0-350 kmh, under 15 seconds, free parachute and ladder bars to those that purchase before tax time in June as part of Suzuki's end of financial year run out sale ...
Engine longevity , forget that ... in this case rider longevity ... not very long!!!
If there are riders on turbo busas posting their quick asses on youtube at warp speeds already I'm sure the factory will follow.
Love to see what they are going to look like in a decade.

Rather than engine life I'm more concerned with component life - namely the Cam Chain. Mine rattles more than it used to, but everyone keeps telling me it's fine and sure enough it seems to be bar the extra noise.
When do we replace the cam chain? I've got a brand new one and the guides, but I don't fancy attempting that job myself (yet) and can never seem to get the dosh together to pay someone to do it - rego due now - with a 50% hike on the green slip! :(

Cam chain is fairly simple , rear guide done at the same time as the chain also not a real problem, the front guide is a head off job and gets expensive .
most complicated part of the cam chain replacement for the inexperianced is the bolt in the side of the head and the cams r&r
Turbo's have been on busa's now for 10 yrs, don't see the factory in any hurry to follow suit, there big chance was with the super charged b-king that never happened..
far as busa life goes one member here had his up to nearly 200,000kms but the bike was written off in an accident before he got there, haven't seen Cowboy post much in the last few yrs , one of the Queenslanders may know the story better
