power commander 2 cable

hi all, has anyone with a power commander 2 used a serial to usb cable. i was hopeing that type of cable will work as my laptop computer dosnt have a serial port.??? any help please.

Yep it's becoming a prob as not many new laptops come with a serial port............... Toshiba still do one called a workstation Tecra but they start at about 3.5 K
You can use a usb to serial convertor but sometimes you may have to try several types as apparently the Baud rate varies and as a result will not always work program pending ???? So the geeks tell me.
Basically if you buy one and it doesn't work try a different brand

^^^^ yeah i just bought a new toshiba laptop so i wont be replaceing it any time soon. i just bought a serial to usb cable on ebay for $5 posted, ill see if it works. ive heard that diferent cables are configured diferently and thats why some work on applacations that others wont. anyways cheers mate for the heads up.
