'Anyone have any ideas why my 02 busa skips first and goes straight to second from neutral? And I also notice when driving at slower speeds in any gear the bike feels and sounds like it is rocking back and forth (like giving it throttle and letting off it non stop). Any help would be greatly appreciated.'

It turns out that 1) It's his first bike and he doesn't know how a gearbox works, and, 2) the spastic is lugging the engine because he's riding around at 1500rpm.

My question is this: why do Americans think that a Hayabusa is an appropriate Learner's bike? Is it because they are used to big, shitbox Harleys, so they think that anything with an engine capacity of less than 1000cc won't be able to haul their fat, stupid asses around?
Would anyone here recommend the Busa to someone who didn't even know how a standard motorcycle gearbox works?

Actually if you read the whole post ..................... it's not the case ........................ the bike won't shift down into first, he just wrote it up wrong and then copped a fair flogging for doing so. Probably pretty unfairly also but then thats the net.

This is why the internet is good and bad. It is alot easier to show someone your problem (especially if you have never experienced it yourself) then trying to explain something you are not entirely sure of. It is hard to depict what you are experiencing from behind the computer screen at the best of times.
At least someone finally got what he was trying to say!!

The yank boards are full of dickheads with a Busa as a first bike.

All the yanks rally around them with statements like "take it easy", "don't open the throttle too much", and one of my personal favourites: "I have driven a powerful car, so I will be OK" Coolsmiley

There is always a sticky thread from a sensible bloke saying "the Busa is NOT a good first bike" - but that is regularly ignored.

And if you have the temerity to come up and voice your opinion.....

It is all about freedom, don't you know!

I like Americans (and the USA- a great place to visit), but they do make me laugh from time to time...

By law you dont have a licence restriction in US, hence you can buy what you want once you get your licence.... there is no Red/Green P concept

And so it should be. If a fool wants to ride a lethal bike with no training, then so be it.
If a fool wants to ride a motorbike without a helmet, it should be allowed.
I certainly wouldn't recommend it, but I don't think people should be hindered by law to do so.

I don't think a society should bother protecting it's people from themselves, because you have to ask where it ends.

He did say he has ridden before but this was the first bike he has owned.

Ah yes but invariably people still expect an ambulance to show up and help them get to hospital! The question of "who pays for the ambulance/hospital?" can weigh heavily on the minds of some.
