Knocked off my Bussa

I made the mistake of stopping at a stop sign and got rear ended this afternoon , i am ok but the bike is looking a little worse for wear.

The driver was ok about it and we exchanged details but he doesn't want to get an insurance company involved .

I am kind of ok with that but i am worried that when i start pulling panels off the damage could be expensive .

I am guessing the rear sub frame would be ok as it looks like the right muffler and probably rear wheel took most of it and it wasn't a hard hit.
The left muffler , stator cover , lower faring , nose cone and front guard .

glad to here you wernt hurt at all mate .

i would get a quote from insurance mate just so you know what damage is there then tell the driver what its going to cost , you should also put in a report to your local about the accident for your own saftey , but have it professionaly assesed

Mate, report the accident to the Police and then get a professional assessment done. Don't risk it!
Also, when you go to order a new stator cover, get a Woodcraft. They are great and are designed with a replaceable skid pad.

Glad to hear you are ok.

Experience says that those that don't want to get insurance involved generally can't afford the excess, let alone the repair bill.

Report it to the police, go through insurance and save yourself any added dramas.

The more you look through your bike the more things you will find has been damaged and if you stuff up your original quote it could cost you. At the end of the day you were not at fault and the other driver needs to pay.

Thanks for the replies and advice.

It's a little late for me to report it now but will do that tomorrow to cover myself there .

I just took off the faring and found this .

I am guessing the rear sub frame isn't supposed to look like this :(
Looks like it's time to phone him and give him the bad news .

Very Happy a little bling would be nice and perhaps it's time for an after-market exhaust , i did try a Roring Toy's system for one ride but that was way too loud , a nice Yoshi or similar could be good .

The Woodcraft stator cover isn't just bling; it's waaaaayyyyy stronger than the OEM one and the replaceable skid pad means that it's only a $29 fix if you do go down.

I can understand the other driver's reluctance to get insurance companies involved: he doesn't want his premiums to go up...but it'll work out a LOT cheaper for him to pay the excess on this claim than it would to pay you in cash for the repairs! I'm guessing you've got $1500-$2000 worth of damage right there.

Ok , i was thinking that it wasn't going to be cheap with the plastics that were scratched .
I also just remembered that he said it wasn't his car ( a stock looking Toyota Soarer) , wish had thought to get the rego number.

Are you serious? You DIDN'T get the car's rego???!!! Are you sure he even gave you a real phone number?
I think you might end up paying for this yourself.

Any pics from the scene ??Phones are very handy at times like this,
