Hey Steve, why not put a link to this thread as a reply on the 1400 site. done to be fair there are some great people on the 1400 forum, as with any club/forum there is always going to be someone who likes to stir the pot.

After all is said and done, I truly believe that both the 1400 and the Busa will go into History as iconic and best bikes of their times (within their categories).
I have ridden both, as someone in the family has the 1400. IT IS PHENOMENAL. The Busa is by it's own admission, unique and no less phenomenal. It also has a pointy nose and aerodynamics built-in. Both have been to the GYM. Where the 1400 is still in gym-shorts, the Busa is dressed up for a black-tie night on the town. Owning both should be compulsory, if you already have the one!

ive had both at the same time for about a year and a half i liked the 1400 i used it as my commuter for 80km round trip every days its a good bike but to compare it to a busa is ridiculas the only part i can see it being better in is manouvering through traffic at a slow pace, and i liked the look of the fuel tank reminded me of a car bonnet
this is response from a 1400 owner and forum member and I think it pretty much sums it up
My last bike was a 99 Busa (pre-restriction). Yes they are different animals, but i ride the same. and the busa was a beast. I could ride through villages at 30mph in 5th and then roll on and use the massive torque to pull away to silly speeds. whereas i feel the GSX is a bit tame. 3 things to bare in mind, Busa weight is lower than GSX, Busa BHP and torque, both are higher than the GSX. We all love the GSX1400 for what it is, but lets not get carried away with rose coloured glasses, its not a hypersport bike.

Talk to them about the Honda CB1300, hear what they have to say about a better bike in their own class :-)
That'll get a rise

You've just taken a convenient quote, out of context - as most on the 14 site know of his bike's state of tune, and you've used it for your own questionable agenda. not sure what trouble you're trying to stir up here but i can smell some smart arse in the house. both bikes are fantastic and serve different purposes altogether. He did put a post on a busa forum, but it was a pommy forum and the whining was to be expected. This bloke has a lot of mates on the 1400 forum and states openly that he fully respects the busa so i wouldn't push it too far mate, as you seem relatively fresh to both sites. you also don't mention the fact that this bloke is an extremely aggressive rider according to countless posts over the years and people who ride with him. ......WTF are you doing copying and pasting other peoples posts into other forums for anyway? get a life. ride your own bike. make your own history.

The 1400 is the most boring-looking shitbox around. If you stuck a wooden crate full of fencing equipment on it's rear end it'd be a dead ringer for my Grandad's old farm bike, FFS.
I like my Busa because it is a beautiful piece of sculpture. The 1400 is not.
"casting dispersions on others credability." And their illiteracy.

Who cares what they look like? You'll only ever see the headlight or taillight/numberplate depending on your riding skill and the talent of the 1400 pilot. I've ridden a couple of 'em (the old man and lil' bro have 'em) and they have mountains of torque, but the seat's way too wide (feels like the seat is parting ya nether-regions for some exploratory scientific procedure).
I road the 1400 around E/Creek It was the Phil Tainton bike the one that was on the rapid mag. The only thing that was any good was the smooth throttle. I reckon i was at least 10 secs slower on it than my Busa. And it nearly shook my head off down the straight. Good bike for commuting.

His bike has a full Akra and has been dynoed, no cams no big bore kit, seems I know more about him than you, as for riding with lots of members he is known as the phantom and only one forum member has meet him. Jimmy loves to get people talking which is what this has done, subject closed.
