HID lights: High-Intensity Discharge bulbs. They are much more powerful than a standard halogen bulb but they are designed to be used though a projector rather than a light-collector, so the beam tends to be thrown out in a wide pattern when used on a stock headlight assembly.
The po-po will fine you for it. (Although they've never noticed mine, so far.)
The HID lights are awesome: I can light up street signs from 100 metres away, in broad daylight!

I love my HIDs, the best thing is people don't sit in front of you going slow in the fast lane. Also, I tend to get noticed more.

That is the number one reason why motorcycles should be allowed to run HID kits!
