The V-Rod was the bike I was thinking of - it's the best Harley out there, but the die hards hate it.

My other half's ex has a V-Rod. Naturally I don't really go much on them. But so far as musclular cruisers go, it certainly looks alright. Especially the fat rear tyre. The only real complaint is the complete lack of that traditional Harley sound, which is probably why the die hard Harley fan boys don't like them.

I raced a Harley today and after some really hard riding I managed
to PASS the guy. I was riding on one of those really, really
twisting sections of mountain road with no straight sections to
speak of and where most of the bends have warning signs that
say "MAX SPEED 50 KPH".

I knew if I was going to pass one of those monsters with those
big-cubic-inch motors, it would have to be a place like this where
handling and rider skill are more important than horsepower alone.

I passed 2 of my mates down macquarie pass one day, both of them were on Harleys, both were very modified, infact, they had each spent more on their brakes than I paid for my slug of a GS850G (big,old,heavy,shaftdrive suzi.)
As I said, I raced them down macquarie pass, and finally got past them, . . . rolling with the motor off . Man, were they pissed!!!!

remember when Harley brought out the evolution? 'bout '87????(not an expert so could be way out)

BUT I do remember when the die hard Harley riders poopood the "evo's"
Calling them "aluminium japanese Harley's"
Not even made out of iron!!

Nowdays you wont find a 1%er on anything else but an evolution.
