Battery question for a 99 busa
#1
Hello to all. My 99 busa has a Deka ETX12 Battery but from what i read on this forum a YTZ14S appears to be the popular choice, the workshop manual calls for a YT12A-BS. Can anyone tell me which battery you recommend for a 99 model. Cheers fonc

Many on here will only use Yuasha battery's ,I'm Not one of them , I have been told that not All Yuasha's are made in Japan But aslo in China with the supposedly inferior one's .If the cold cranking hrs & terminal position is the same who care's .I Personally reckon The oem is over rated & Overpriced ,but many disagree.I am currently using a copy of the 14s $139 delivered . No probs in the fst 12 mths .Mine is a 2000 & I Run HID"S, & Heated vest & gloves in extreme cold . ( Under 15 degrees ,I'm old )

I went for one with the same CCA's but weighs ove 1.2kgs less. Just take yours to a "Battery World" place and compare for yourself!

I put a Deka in my wifes VTR 1000 about 4 years ago and haven't had an ounce of trouble with it. Also had a Deka in my 03 GSXR 1000 for about 2 years before I sold it and had no trouble with it either. So when the battery dies in my Busa, i'll be headed straight to my local Deka oulet.

I will only buy Yuasa, maybe coz my last one lasted 9+ years.

I can't remember what type of battery I'm running, but it's a little more powerful than the OEM battery. I've had no problems with it.

Do Battery World rebuild motorbike batteries?

Hi to all after looking on the net for batteries for my bike i ended up at battery world ,holden hill adelaide, not far from where i live, and picked up the oem YTS 12A YUASA for $140 took it home put it on the float charger for a few hours as recommended and what a difference on cold (and hot)startup, bike fires up almost instantly.I guess being my first hayabusa and buying second hand i didnt realize the battery was a bit tired, and also the importance of using a good fully automatic float charger and not just a trickle charger which may not turn off when the battery is full resulting in a cooked battery, will keep it in top condition while the bike sits idle between rides. cheers fonc

sorry greeny didnt mean to mislead you, i live at hillbank and bought the battery from holden hill which to me at 15 mins away is "not far from where i live" Tathra sounds great but my daughter is expecting a baby around 5th dec making me a first time grandfather.Wifey gave me three clear choices when i mentioned Tathra, I can stay home, stay home or stay home. Also after reading your posts i called in on your suspension guy today after work and you are right ,he knows his shit.We discussed body mass and spring rate etc and he gave me a quote to rebuild the forks with gold valves etc and a price to do the rear shock, then set the suspension to suit me and my style of riding. He comes across as being very knowledgeable ,all this while he was suffering a migrane. cheers FONC
