optional road tax
cheaper than my latest :( open country road, not intentionally speeding but not watching the speedo closely either cost me 3 points , only other vehicle in a 10 km stretch happened to be the local plod

Surely you would contest that in court,as the national standard for speedo accuracy is plus or minus 10 % . how can they Pinch you at 6.6% over the limit,It's bullshit ,their speed detectors are mostly wrong anyway. As Rapid mag's lawyer has been saying for years, if we would all contest these minor ,unknown infringement's in court the authority's would stop trying it on . It would cost a fortune in court time & clog the court's & they know it.Until they align the laws with speedo accuracy ,we
are letting them stick it up us . So don't bitch about it unless your willing to do something. It's typical Aussie , to lazy to stick up for ourselves .

From what I believe it is only +10%. A speedo is allowed to indicate that you are travelling up to 10% faster than your actual speed, but they are never allowed to indicate you are travelling slower than your actual speed.

My ford BA Speedo has read 5 km to low since day one. I travel at 65 indicated by my Speedo ,which is 60 km by my gps . They all do. Jap cars are more accurate. So your right they read higher than actual just like suzuki's .

Australian standard actually reads

speedo must read +10% with a +/-10% allowance which in effect means that at a true 100kph your speedo can read anywhere from 100kph to 121kph and pass the test. not that any are tested before being sent out on the road.

Tom

It is well past time due that the autorities stop this ridiculous "speed kills" credo and works on the inattentive driving/inappropriate speed that is the real root cause.
Drive anywhere else in the world and see just how different the attitude of both drivers and enforcment is. the right speed in the right place, drive sensibly and you are cool.

15 to 20 percent over on the freeways is ignored.
speed at all in town and they are down on you like a ton of bricks.

off my soap box now
