Do you wave?
#16
Hi there,

I wave to the postie, the scooter, the cruiser, the sports bikes, the tourers, and even to Canam's.

I find that on the Busa I get more waves than I do on the BMW, but that has changed since I have replaced the nod with a physical wave when I am on the BMW.

Harleys dont wave because 1/ it's not tough, and 2/ it takes 2 hands to keep a harley on the road Lol3

Most times I'll nod to a fellow rider. If I don't, it's usualy because I'm concentrating on not getting killed.

Top Ten Reasons Why Harley Riders Don't Wave Back

10. Afraid it will invalidate warranty.
9. Leather and studs make it too heavy to raise arm.
8. Refuse to wave to anyone whose bike is already paid for.
7. Afraid to let go of handlebars because they might vibrate off.
6. Rushing wind would blow scabs off the new tattoos.
5. Angry because just took out second mortgage to pay luxury tax on new Harley.
4. Just discovered the fine print in owner's manual and realized H-D is partially owned by Honda.
3. Can't tell if other riders are waving or just reaching to cover their ears like everyone else.
2. Remembers the last time a Harley rider waved back, he impaled his hand on spiked helmet.
1. They're too tired from spending hours polishing all that chrome to lift their arms.
"casting dispersions on others credability." And their illiteracy.

the idea of the NOD is to acknowladge other riders of any BIKE ,

"it came this way from the knights of old . when 2 knights locked in battle on horseback and lance would tip there head or lift visors to each other in order to pay homage to another knigh on horse back , this is where it all came from guys

if you chose to ignore another rider cause they ride a scooter or a harley you then become the same as the others you complain about , we have forgotten what riding is all about , mateship helping a fellow brother or sister rider out on our roads , several yrs ago i was rideing late at nite from appin to wollongong and i come across a fellow rider whom just happen to run out of fuel he wore a back patch and was a sergent or arms for a particular club , he was a brother of the road and was in need of help , i stopped and helped him i pillioned him to a servo and back to his bike , he wasnt ashamed to get on a jap bike he was happy a brother on the road stopped , we are good freinds to this day , so before you cast dispertions on other riders whom dont happen to ride a bike of your likeing think , that person would stop and help you , would you do the same???

I'll nod in suburbia and the city and wave on highways to anyone on 2 wheels (even the odd can-am), I'm old school and go with the old quote "Let those who ride decide"....

I approached 2 huge harley riders a couple of days ago as one was wearing the "Free Australia Party" T-shirt, I think even they were shocked to see a tall skinny bloke, walk up and say, "Hey bro, where can I get me one of those shirts", next minute the three of us were sharing our experience with bikes and the biggest, meanest looking bloke began to show me video footage on his phone from the last protest run they did, we also shared a laugh and they actually admired my Busa, They asked "what do you ridee mate?" so I pointed to My Busa and they actually said "WOW nice bike".

In conclusion I think IMHO that it is in our own mind-set to how other riders are percieved.

It's great to see that you guys acknowledge fellow riders. Maybe I just caught riders having an off day or something.

You have restored my faith in the wave

I wave, nod, peace sign to all bikes, scooters, Hardleys and posties.
I used to be a postie (bout 4 years around Northern Rivers area, 2 years in Byron Bay, great job pay not so great) most of them are riding enthusiasts just like us, so I give them a bit extra.

Do you wave/nod ?

I'm a nodder, and I always do, even to Harley dudes. They don't nod in return, but I'm not gonna put myself into their 'greater than though' catergory and behave like them. Scooters? I've waved once or twice, but theydon't get it, I presume that they're not of the same mentality, for them it's a commuter, not a thing of passion. I told a scooter rider off once whilst in my car 'cause he was doing stupid things in the traffic. On top of that he had a pillion. I told him to be a man, not a moron. One thing I'll never forget, when I was a learner on my old Across, a cruiser type rider on an old Triumph passed me and once in front, he raised his hand as an acknowledgment and as a gesture of encouragement; very decent of him. But occasionally you get sport rider wankers I'm afraid to say. Like a dude on a R1 that I stopped next to at a red light, nodded and got nothing in return except he took off on one wheel 'to show me how good he was', and an MV rider with an MV jacket, MV helmet, MV underwear, who needed to justify his expenditure by trying to show me his machine was superior.
