Barnett Clutches, anyone use or heard of them. I think mines due replacement. When cold I'm getting some serious judder occasionally and it just slipped on me momentarily at around 9000rpm in second. Who uses what and whats recommended ?? I dont drag it or particularly give it any serious hammer either. Just the occasional squirt

The stock clutch is the best mate. Drag, landspeed and street bikes all use stock.

Bruce is 100% correct.+ stock plates seem to help find neutral easier

The momenterally sliping in second sounds concerning, could be the dreaded second gear issue, and not clutch related. I hope for your sake it is just the clutch though.

I ran a barnett clutch for about 3000km of hard riding and drags .Not worth the money.Still have the plates to prove it.

Pretty sure its clutch, its been juddering a bit when cold recently and I have had it real hot a few times. The 2nd gear issue I thought was more of a bang type jumpin thing as opposed to sliiping. Dont see how gears can slip. they can jump in and out of mesh but this was a definate slip

Thats cool. I had the second gear issue happen to me, and there is not an obvious noise when it pops out and back in, or at least not as bad as you would think.

Just priced up a clutch and I thought he fancied me and was giving me a phone number. $544.00 sound about right for OEM ????
Check on Ebay...sure I saw some there on the weekend (not sure if OEM or aftermarket)

Take it out for a spin & warm it up drop it in to 4 or 5th pull the the clutch in drop it & hammer it and see if it spins up
Some have had the chain jumping teeth others have had the 2nd gear selector probs, what yer is it & how many kms on it
Barnett are fine also I ran one for years at the drags on my gen1
so is the later model stock one the gen2 ones are even better with there steel plates

Its a 2002 and I got 67000kms on it. Running it on Motul 5100 10/50w oil. It's only done it the once, but it has started to judder when cold and pulling away in 1st. It was a real steady rise in rpm at around 9000, no jumping. As soon as I eased back on the throttle it was fine. Tried it again and it didnt do it.
Can someone explain to me how gears slip ???

The gears dont slip., but the engament dogs pop out due to them being rounded, bent shift fork or shaft. When they pop out the revs can obviously rise, then they might pop back in, might not. So technically the gear is not slipping, it is the drive dogs disengaging causing the problem.

Would that not result in a noise as it slipped back in as the gear would be under load, such as a clunk or a bang or something. Or a rapid rise in revs as opposed to a gradual one. Not trying to be a smart arse just want to be equipped with as as much knowledge as poss before deciding which way to go with repairs.
The other thought I've had on this was could it be the tyre spinning up, as they were pretty cold. I got a real crappy Bridgestone on the back that was old OEM stock I had to buy in an emergency when I had a flat at Tenterfield. But that wouldn't account for the juddering in 1st when cold

I dont think ur trying to be a smartarse!
Like I said before, the noise is not really noticable (at high revs), pretty obviuous at lower revs though.
The other posts relating to clutch slip are what u should pay attention to, and do the tests suggested.
On the tyre spinning up, I had a GSXR1100, and after buying it noticed "clutch slip", then realised it was infact the poxy rear tyre spinning!
It isn't that hard to just pull out the cluch plates and inspect and measure them.
