Road Trip !!!!!!
#1
For those with a good memory, some time ago I asked for good road suggestions in NSW and Victoria because I was planning a trip into the Mexican zones for a couple of weeks. I have FINALLY got some time off (hopefully in time to avoid any real wintery weather) and I am heading off on April 20. Yes Biker

Missy - I guess you have already done your run south?

Thanks M8EE for the route you suggested - I am doing it almost exactly on the way down.

My route will be:

BRISSIE, beadesert, Rathdowney, Woodenbong, Kyogle, Casino, Grafton, Nymboida ( AKA HEAVEN!!! ), Ebor, Armidale, Walcha, Wauchope, Glouchester, Stroud, Singleton, Lithgow, Bathurst, Cowra, Young, Coota, Junee, Gundagai, Tumut ( HEAVEN PART 2 ) Cooma, Bombala, Orbost, Sale, THE BIG RAT-HOLE THEY CALL MELBOURNE

(Wording provided by Shane - in case of complaints)

Anyone wanting to join in for a leg or two is more than welcome. Anyone with a spare bed along the way is even more welcome Very Happy. It would be bloody great to meet up with any and all who might be available for a meal or a reason to rest along the way.

The Great Ocean Road I am told is a must "and don't come home without doing it" so while I am down there I will head that way for a look.

The run home is up in the air until later on, so suggestions are welcome. I haven't forgotten the other road suggestions to my original post.

So if you want an excuse to go for a bit of a ride - excuse provided. If you want to see the spectacle of a QLDer on a white Busa - spectacle available.

PM me if you want contact details to catch up along the way. Just don't want to put my mobile out in public, so give me a yell.

Scott

Thanks Pete, I will let you know when I am in the neighbourhood. Thanks for the weather warning. Thermals on the agenda - anyone know the best ones to get? I have some but not the best for a bike I think.

Sorry dude, no idea, don't own a set....... being cold and/or wet just sucks the fun outta riding bikes.

We've apparently got Wednesday nite lattes too, just lacking numbers at the moment! Keep an eye out for that.
At least 1 member wants mid week rides down the coast, might be able to hook someone up for a blast!!

Hey mate. If you need a bed in Canberra you have one. I should start taking photos of the whites in the garage!

I use the brand Icebreaker that I buy from Ski and Snowboard shops. They come in different material weights and do the trick nicely. Not cheap though. A long sleeve top is around $160.

Brilliant! I will plan to contact all along they way. Heidi - it might be on the way back up through Canberra cause I have the downward route mapped out (sort of). The more the merrier along the way and especially for the great ocen road.

Thanks for the thermals advice BikerBoy, I will try my luck at Anaconda tomorrow night - probably my best option for wintery things on the Sunshine Coast!
Saw your post Missy. Looks bloody awesome. A shame I wasn't up to speed when you came through cause Iended up missing your trip over Mt Mee and whatever else you did along the way through.

Next time.

Thanks Russell - looking forward to checking out the scenery along the way and having a look at these roads I keep hearing about.

I managed to get to Katmandu today and picked up some top shelf merino thermals. Luckily they are having a huge sale and I paid $129 for shirt and pants instead of $285!!

A couple more days and then it all starts.

Good thing about merino, it doesn't get smelly.

A day of organising tomorrow and then hitting the road on Tuesday bright and early.

So tomorrow will be the day I forget all the things I should remember, and then remember them 200 k's down the road on Tuesday.

Pastor - I will give you a call on Tuesday to see how you are going and if you are still able to head out for a bit if a ride.

More tomorrow I guess..............
