Well what a day! Heaps of people, heaps of vechicles and heaps of humidity!!
We entered the event with aspriations of running Australias first 200mph 1/4 mile pass and of course going for a win!
First qualifier saw us set the target for the event, with an easy looking 7.54 at 193.88mph, ok not bad still need to improve. The 2nd qualifier had us reaching for the sky as the bike reared up on the hit, back down again and a 7.82 @189mph was the result agaist Alex Borg. 3rd qualifer was agaist Matt Guildon, the track was getting slick with the heat, with a wheel spin at the hit and black tracking the whole track for a 7.9 at 193.7mph.
With qualifing out of the way it was time to get down to business, the track had gone away for the small tyre bikes as everyone was scrambling for traction, looks like its over for the first 200mph pass!.
First elimination saw us up against Russ Thomas who had run a PB and was looking for more, once again the tyre turned and I was on the chase, got thru with a 7.8 at 195.7mph (a mph PB for Sydney Dragway) , 2nd elimination was agaist Alex, I left well and was on a mission untill I left the racing line and the bike spun severly, sending it towards the wall at about 180mph I shut off and was greeted by Alex who blasted pass for the win, we both ran in the 7.8 range, first loss for the day!!!
We were now in a position to get knocked out if we didn't run a good number we were up agaist Matt who had 2/2 wins and was hungry for more, The lights went green and as the the bike lef,t spun slightly but regained traction for a 7.8 at 193.08 for the win.
On a count back it was Matt and myself to face off in the final. With both bikes as ready as can be we lined up. On the Green Matt was off to a great start with a good 2 bike lead as I spun 1st and 2nd eased into 3rd just as I got going Matt must have lifted as I noticed his bike weave just enough to get pass him and take the win with a 7.88 at 192mph.
I would like to thank my very understanding wife Deanne, the rest of the Outlaw enteries, Russell Thomas, Matt Guildon and Alex Borg for taking part and Ray Box and Company from Sports compact group for once again giving us a place to show off the quickest and fastest bikes in the Country!
A special thankyou to Ray from Easyrider Imports (Kawasuki) and Oleon oils for suppling the good gear that keeps the bike going strong! Ray approched me the day I first debut "Quicksilver" and offered to assist me with some of the running costs, I was shocked that he picked me and since that day I always strive to do the best I can for the ones that support me , Thanks mate.
