Overheating

Got a question for the powers that be....stuck at a set of lights today on my '07 and the temp gauge rose up into the red zone (light came on too)...couldn't hear the thermo fan....once I got going again the temp gauge fell back to halfway after about 500m. What's doing? The thermo fan can be moved by hand so what else should I be looking at? My '03 model never got this hot!

Check the coolant level in the radiator first up.

Other things to check, fan fuse, temp switch, water pump, thermostat, radiator, anything in front of radiator etc etc the list goes on.

That'll get you started.

Waiting for a traffic light change normally wouldn't over heat your motor.

BTW if you continually get the light coming on, you will cause long term damage.

Got it sorted...shoulda checked the fuse first!!!!! Thanks for the reply Leonard.

I'd be checking the fan operation in a controlled enviroment (like at home) make sure it comes on and doesn't just pop the fuse!
