Bikers looking out for one another - Opinions most welcome

Hey all,

I'm only a virgin to the site, joined a few weeks back after buying myself a nice little busa project. I have been busy the last few weeks buying parts etc so that I can get her out on the road and have asked questions which you guys have been very helpful with, but lately something has been bugging me and I'd most appreciate your feed back. I have already asked mates and fellow bikers and they are of the same opinion as me.

Here goes. As I mentioned I bought a nice busa as a project to put back on the road and subsequently have been contacted by the previous owner looking to sell a few parts ( thought was a very nice gesture, a fellow biker giving me a helping hand ) but then to my shock was offered the spare key for the bike (I now own) for $100. I asked why was the key $100 and that it was obviously of no longer any use to him and he responded that to buy one off Suzuki would set me back $300. (also the owners manual, warranty book etc is still in his posession)
As I said, this has been bugging me especially after been in the biking community for quite some time and know how much we look out for each other.
I have bought and sold many a bike and have always given to the new owner anything belonging to that bike to help them on their way i.e. Keys/haynes manuals/seat cowl etc.

Anyway thats it in a nut shell and again disappointed that someone wants to exploit a fellow biker.

Your thoughs would be appreciated.

DIRTY behaviour thats all I can say. Makes you wish if he ever broke down on the side of the road that passer by bikes would give him the finger instead of helping. But how would we know, so wed be offering help to a scumbag that dont deserve it. Dickheads are born everyday, watcha gonna do. Oh Welcome!

You could let him know that if the bike ever gets stolen, he'll be the first person the Police come to see.

If you can get the ignition re-keyed you can send him your old key and tell him to shove it where the sun don't shine.

Sounds a bit sus to me...I'd be changing the ignition on the bike and throwing a handfull of fish scales in his fuel tank....if you haven't heard how efficient these lil buggers are in fuel tanks, it's very costly...they drain the tank, the scales stick to the sides, they refill the tank, the scales block the pick up in the tank, they drain the tank, etc,etc,etc

OH SHIT.....did I say that last bit out loud??? That's what I've heard on the grapevine anyway!!!!

Always include all keys / log book etc with the bike,
or forward them on when i find them.

I bought Troy's 02 Busa off him and he could only find one key,
wasn't a drama, but a while later the other one turned up in the post from him.

Its the right thing to do.

When you buy a busa from the dealer, you get the key and a spare, you don't pay $300 for the spare, it is included in the price of the bike. I see no reason why this would be the exception. If this guy is trying to flog you parts, tell him to nick off. There are parts coming up on the board all the time at a reasonable (usually MORE than reasonable) cost. Buy them instead and leave him with a garage full of useless busa bits.

If you need stuff to get the project on the road, put up a list of bits you need. Most of us have a shed full of parts we are willing to flog.

Also, have we seen a photo of this project? Love to see before and after photos, I'm a BANDIT for photos.

just re -key the bike like you would a home.

firstly, a belated to the club, mate !!

This guy you bought the 'busa off sounds like a right tosser ! Was he that unhappy with the eventual sale price that he has to resort to scummy scams like that ?!?

As far as I know by Law all keys for the bike come with the sale and that's that.
He is being a money hungry prick.

just for a bit of fun, go out one night and fill all his locks with loctite.

I would check with Vic roads or consumer affairs or something like that, I would have thought that if the bike is being sold the keys are part of the bike. Maybe because it's a fixer upper, they don't have to do it. Very dodgy! I wouldn't be happy.
