Does anyone have a spare bed or floor in Melb, 28 Feb?

Hello all

Does anyone have spare bunk space for two on Sunday 28 Feb, near where the boat to Tasmania goes from in Melbourne? Bruce (blackzook)and I are on a different boat to everyone else.

What I'm after is either a place to crash (and most importantly, somewhere safe to leave the bikes) or suggestions on accommodation near where the boat goes from.

We have to be in the boat queue at 7.30am at the latest and neither of us know Melbourne well, so I figure close by is the way to go.

If you can't find a bed, The St Kilda Novatel is about 3klm to 4klm down the same road on the waterfront. Right across the rd from Lunar Park.
In Fitzroy Street, St Kilda (also 3klm odd away) is the Urban hotel as well. Both around the $150/night (if you don't mind sharing)

there are also some 2br appartments in Fitzroy st that are rented by the night. But they are closer to $180/night.

On St Kilda rd (behind Albert Park) there are a few more hotels. The Ibis etc. They are about 1klm back from the waterfront & still 3 to 4klm from the Tassie boat.

FANTASTIC, that is exactly the information I need. I've been on the internet and got confused. Not knowing the area makes it hard. I'll have a ring around.

Heidi,
get onto Google Maps. Search for Fitzroy St. St kilda. When the map comes up you will see the marker for Fitzroy St.
Make the map smaller until you can see the 1st big pier to the nth along the beach from the street marker. that is Station Pier & is where the Tassie boat leaves from.

Thanks for your help Louwai, I've just booked the bayside motel in St Kilda. Sounds good and has a big fence around the parking area. That's that sorted.

Looks great. I haven't been to melb for a while, is it the Espy that is on the corner down there on St Kilda Rd near the beach? If so, I'm having a beer and pretending I'm 20 again. It should be easy to get a good meal somewhere around there.

You do realise that if you had said Accomodation for just yourself that you would have beating the offers off with a stick! Lol3

- Just make Bruce hide in the bushes 'till you get a foot in Lol2

(If you guys ever need somewhere to crash - break the trip home if you're shagged - If we don't have a room here there's always floorspace.)

That did occur to me, but unfortunately, Simmo Bruce and I tend to be a bit of a package deal when it comes to travelling! No-one else will put up with us.

BAGS THE TOP BUNK!!!!

Thanks heaps for the offer Rod! I've booked us a couple of rooms in Fitzroy St, apparently it is only a few minutes to the ferry. It has a locked, fenced area we can park the bikes, but Bruce is taking his big f***-off chain anyway. I'm just hoping he uses it on the bike.
