Brocks systems
#1
Hi guys, I'm pretty much cleared out from the purchase of a new gen2, but the first thing I must do is remove those gigantic stock pipes.

The full brocks alien head and short megaphone systems say they shed 17.2Kg off a pretty heavy bike to begin with, but they also claim to be loud to the extreme.

I noticed the busa stock cans blow around 93db (idle? redline?? halfway???) but the brocks blow 108db at only half way to redline, which would more or less silence gunfire.

Has anyone fitted the above or similar systems? Love to know how obnoxious they are, cos the way things are going I don't wanna get pulled over EVERY time I pass a pig.

Maybe someone knows a super small/super light system that's not so loud? Hope so.

Cheers!

The stock system weighs 21 Kg give or take a few hundred grams. Most Brock & Yoshi full systems weigh somewhere between 3.5 - 5.5 Kg. Most manufactures give you the specs on their websites.

Brocks alien head & short meg systems are very loud. You might want to get down to the local drags to get a good appreciation.

Double check this, but from memory the standard rpm for measuring db is half redline and at a distance of 1 meter.

Some people are like Slinkies ... not really good for anything, but you can't help smiling when you see one tumble down the stairs.

Thanks Troy, so 93db vs 108db is huge, it's ten times louder each 1 db isn't it?

In that case does anyone know a light and short without giving people a headache? Cheaper is better

+1. Yoshi R55 is shorter than most, looks and sounds good too.

Brocks also make the CT series which is meant to be more socially acceptable than the Alien head & short meg. It is more expensive than the Yoshi, but it is a full titanium system.

Hey, Sutur, as far as I know, every 10dB means twice as loud...

Ah, that's it - cheers.

R55 system looks wicked. Stats are good.

Think I'll find a cheap one in a half year? :)

i had the brocks street megaphone on my gen 2. It looked the goods and delivered in top end hp but lost a fair bit of low down torque. all brocks exhaust will give ya big hp but at the sacrifice of low down torque. mine was cheap as shit too. 1500 landed from the states. it was a pain in the ass noise wise after a few weeks. it sounds awesome but eventually it started to piss me off. depends on what you want to use the bike for........

Im sold on em, my Brocks CT 4>1 full Titanium System is great, yes, its loud, but once you remove your standard Exhaust its no longer Roadworthy anyways....... But then i suppose one could say "why advertise the fact".

Anyways, it does it for me, and thats all that matters! Very Happy

Matt.

dB are a logarithmic scale, so for every 3db you double the amount of sound energy. So that means it's twice as loud for each 3dB increase. so that makes 108dB bloody loud.
