Secondary Throttle mapping
#1
Got a year one ZX14? Wanna make it go faster? Try the caveman approach and rip out your secondary throttle plates or jam them in the open position. While you're at it, use a cold chisel and a brick to set your plug gap.....

But if you own a Busa you can now tweak your secondary throttles in style. With finesse. Using ECU Editor 2.....

I couldn't help myself, I saw that the standard Gen II is pegged at 94% max open. Sure, this opening may provide optimum flow, (given laminar flow, boundary layer separation and subsequent drag inducing turbulence), but hey, let's crank it up a little and see what happens?

I can always put it back to standard.

Hey Mark ................. have been having a fiddle here also and don't think the neighbours will approve if I test this out at the moment ............ but will do a couple of runs tomorrow if i get a chance and log the Secondary opening % with the SDS software. Will let you know what i come up with.

Cheers
ps Also wondering if you have ridden bike as yet ? If so did it throw any fault codes at you ? Curious as in SDS software secondary throttle % reading is 98.4 at fully open position (manually placed there in that position >>>>>>>> also checked sensor was set correctly also)
Funnily enough with SDS being able to read secondary % throttle you would think that they would have you set it using a percentage value But no base set up for sensor given as a voltage reading ? Funny chaps those Suzuki engineers sometimes ??????

Just got back (2am) from a quick test run. Took it to 290 but the gearsack rack was playing havoc with handling in the cross winds. Pulled strong and sweet through all gears, all throttle positions (a lot at 100%) and no problems or fault codes.

Hey Camel
Did you do it from 6000k up wards to 100 % or did you just step it up a bit at a time

As many approaches as I could contain myself to do.

Cracked it wide open from 1500 rpm in 6th.
Stepped it from 1500.
Held it at various openings and climbed revs.

I'll have a play with mine for the drags, if the rain holds off for Wednesday night, I have make a few other changes so it may not give me the correct readings, but I will work it out with time

Rob just remember that this feature in Editor is a "work in progress" at the moment..................... also any setting above about 94% will have no more effect on throttle plates.
Trying to get some time to do a few dyno runs and also log the secondary actions during a full power run ................... maybe today.

Yeah, as Pete says, no more advantage, I eyeballed their operation and can confirm they can't open anymore than as for the '94%' setting in ECU editor. Also, when I altered the settings I couldn't get above 94% in 'A' mode at 10,800 rpm. But when one of the guys tried it in 'B' and 'C' modes he could change figures up to 100%, (there some logic here - but I'm too tired from bushfire prep)

I suppose the lesson learned is that it's still early days for development of the STP feature. We can play with settings (because it definately works) but its datalogging that needs to be done.

Go Pete!

looks like A mode map be the slow map one day Coolsmiley
Have you been playing with map B & C if so how do you access it

Simmo mode A reads as 0, key "b" puts you in mode1 or B and "c" puts you in mode 2 or C then "m" toggles between mapswitch o and 1

Simmo here is a 4th gear 100% throttle secondary standard and then with all 100% throttle secondary settings set to 94 .................... comparison between the two.
Created a huge stumble when throttle cracked Coolsmiley

(secondary comparison 4th graph down)

Simmo you should read your emails ? Sent you a lovely key board abbreviation table LOL

Can you tune maps A,B and C seperatly?? if so could one of these modes be set to be a nitrous map?

Just played with mine but set to 100, the bottom one won't change at all ??
Then when I go back in its at 98% ????? I have done it a few time but its the same
the things you have to do to chase an extra 10 hp

I havn't worked that out yet, others have i think, but you can run nos in map A using the boost map to turn it on & fuel it up also with a change over switch somehow
Pete & Maj would know better
