Your a funny little pirate It's a side stand thing Rod, happens to everybody sooner or later. Then you always make sure you follow steps 1 to 4. Wouldn't want to scratch that Chrome Stator Cover or the pretty paint mate.
I should point out to you that my Avatar is a Skull & Cutlesses, not a Skull & Crossbones (Jolly Roger/Pirate Flag). Under Admiralty Maritime law, any Vessel that flies the "Jolly Roger" is "Fair Game" and any other vessel at sea has a legal right to "Blow their wheelhouse off". So when a vessel in the well managed Japanese Whaling Fleet blows the "MV Steve Irwin"'s wheelhouse off, you'll know why. The "Skull & Cutlesses" is usually flown by Fishing Masters & Wind Up Merchants.

This is not a "Jolly Rodger"
Talk about getting off the subject "No, it's a Converted Fishing Vessel flying the "Jolly Roger" & due to limited visibility in the Southern Ocean at the time & the fact that the vessel was attempting to ram us on our port bow and my vessel and crew's safety is of paramount importance, we blew their wheelhouse off your honor". Note the highly visible maritime paint scheme. They probably steam at night with no nav lights on.
At the end of the day, the only "real" maritime paint scheme is 90% White, 10% Wick Green & Brunswick Green.

Thanks for the words of sympathy and offers of parts. I've chucked the original screen back on, and ordered another double bubble on Sat. The scratched can will stay on even though I've got a spare pair of stock cans I picked up dirt cheap a long time ago. At least now I won't feel quite so bad if I chuck the bike down the road playing too hard. The peg only broke at the 'your'e leaning too far pin', so it's still useable until I get another.
Thank you also for the maritime advice. I was hoping to set sail on the Busa next year, and now that I know what flag to fly and colours to paint her I'll be sure not to get into troubled waters. Just need to work out a way to stop my parrot getting blown off my shoulder. Any advice Grunt, or does yours nestle into the chip?

Weakest link in the chain! Suxuki should be ashamed of this defective sidestand! I did the mod to my k8 but am always paranoid about where I park the bike, keeping it in gear and testing the stability before I walk away. Cost me near $80 for a clutch lever and $40 for a footrest. I understand your distress and think Suzuki should have done a recall on gen 11 bikes to fix the sidestand!

Sorry to hear TempOzzy, hope it all comes good for ya mate!
I think it's about time I do the mod!
(19-12-2009, 08:52pm)TempOzzy Wrote: Last night at about 1am my Gen 2 fell over in my garage and it's left me pretty pissed. First drop a few of months ago happened just as I turned to walk away, the bloody thing fell onto a concrete garden wall about knee level in a servo - unbelievable how much damage it did.......can't find the boggled eye smilie but I'd need about 100 of them to convey how shocked I was. Nothing structural but the panel damage was just so expensive, I'm absolutely pissed off now just from the memory of my wallet being raped.
Second drop was just a few weeks after the first fall damage had been replaced/repaired to pristine condition. This time I was standing right next to it and it dropped onto me and I just wasn't in a position to rescue it. Mirror scratched, foot peg and some minor fairing scratches that I now refuse to fix, it's a mile cruncher after all and with my track record I'm likely to drop it again.
Oh, and the loss of dignity?.......priceless!
I'll have to do the modification, thanks for the instructions guys.

I do not have a parrot because Thai International will not permit them in First Class or Business Class that I now have to travel in due to the L1 & L2 fractured vertabrae that the drunk woman driver gave me.
