This mornings discovery has ruined my christmas!

Last night at about 1am my Gen 2 fell over in my garage and it's left me pretty pissed.

Damage includes;
Broken screen and left footpeg.
Scratches on Left fairing, engine cover, bar-end, muffler, mirror, rear indicator housing and hump.

My garage is locked and has a good, flat concrete floor. I moved my bike slightly at about 5pm, and recall kicking the stand with my foot to make sure it was fully forward before putting the bike back on it. My wife parked her car next to it about 11pm, and woke up this morning at about 1 am because of a very loud crashing sound. She didn't investigate, but we found my bike on the ground, with the hump pinned up against the bumper of her car later in the morning. Pi_thumbsdown

I'd thought about doing the 'stand mod' but didn't think it was necessary because I nearly always park on flat and firm ground. I'll be doing it now!

I never thought this would/could have happened to me in my garage and almost makes me wonder if my garage is haunted!

I want to truly warn all owners out there. NEVER EVER put 100% faith in your stock side stand. I recommend doing the stand mod, and always check your stand before resting your bike on it.

Merry Christmas to all, especially to those who have also suffered from the quality engineering of their Suzuki side stand.

That fkn sucks mate.If you need a hand with anything yell out.If you like I'll show you my home made drive on frame with bar through rear axle, give you a hand to make one if your any good at welding (I'm shit ), cost about 100 buck's including 4 x swivel wheel's to let you drive on & turn bike around to drive out .I've done it twice ( slow learner ) but not again.

I would like her to sleep next to my bike to keep guard, and as a bonus if it happens again it will have something soft to land on.Coolsmiley

That really sucks mate. I have to say though my gen2 never had an issue but many have had issues. My gen1's all needed the side stand mod but others haven't done it and have been fine without it which leads me to believe there's some dodgy quality control on the side stands.

1) Push stand down.
2) Pull clutch in and engage 1st Gear.
3) Disengage clutch & push bike as far forward as it will go in 1st Gear.
4) Lean bike to left whilst ensuring that stand is all the way forward.
5) Go and have a cup of coffee & a bl** j**.

yea most of us have experienced that nasty and always hurts coz when it happens its when we and the bike are pretty new so often when the bike is at pristine condition and then.........FARK!

Happened to me in the first year, but I tell ya what, after that happens to you, your so conditioned in placing the bike just right as gruntmax pointed out, so much so that I have not done the mod since and that was over 9 yrs ago and never happened again.

Sorry to hear mate, i saved the K9 from the same fate at some redneck outback BP servo a couple months ago.
I had my back to it & heard Black say oh fark looked back & she was going.
I grabbed the bars & used every bit of strength I could muster & saved her Fatman

If needed you can have my Std K9 screen & I will swap your damged left muffler for a near new one. (Just need a set of std cans for Regency Police if ever needed)

I only have a set of gen 1 pegs but may fit until you can sort something better out to get you going asap.

I can give you a hand with fitting as well if needed Very Happy
