Considering a busa

Wicked. I'm making enquiries now.

Those fairings as difficult to remove as they look? ;-)

I recently rode a GSX14 back to back with a Busa and B-King.
To call the GSX14 a muscle bike is stretching the truth a little.
To say "Gutless top end and vague handling" would be polite.

Thinking about fairing grilles?

Not sure about the Gen 2 but on the Gen 1 the side panels and rear are easy as pie mate, i haven't attempted the nose cone yet, although i have heard that it can be somewhat of a brain strain but still not too difficult according to my workshop manual.

I owned a 07 G1 busa And it was a great bike but and the word is but if you are like me at only 5'6" tall you wont like how stretched out you will be on the Busa.
It will be fine first off but after a while your lower back will start to get sore and its a bitch.
I put heli bars on and that made a big difference but did not fully cure the problem I think that suzuki need to make the fuel tank about 2" shorter so you sit closer to the bars.
Also set the sag as the old beast handled like a shopping trolley from new but after I set it up it was a different bike even my son on his r1 was surprised how I could keep up.
The seat on the Bus is one of the best I think and good for a long ride and if you think you wont speed on the Busa think again just like any high powered bike you just cant help it and yep you will end up fanging through the corners. I used to get the knee down no worries on the bus its that good.
The biggest problem is it likes eating the rear doughnut yum yum.

Grills look cool, no doubt but I was thinking about doing as much maintenance as possible myself. Replacing sparks, oil & filter, coolant etc - all things you usually need to remove the fairings for. From what I've read it seems the hardest part is the cone (ironically quite simple on a blade) and those plastic...rivets I guess you could call them.

I suppose it's all much of a muchness with faired bikes but just bigger on a busa - right?

By the way has anyone attempted to shorten the swingarm? Did a search and everyone seems to want it extended, something I'd understand if you were unable to discipline your speed :)

well if you made it any shorter when you power on you would be pulling wheelies all the time and extending your swing arm wont make you slow down either if your going to speed on a busa your going to speed no amount of diffrent mods will make you ride slowly

you can speed on a honda cub or anything that has 2 wheels , it comes down to self control

If you came off a busa and found the GSX14 had nothing to rave about then I feel positive about a busa. The midrange on a typical musclebike is usually a lot of fun!

rideing all these other bikes is a good call but end of days its not a busa the other bikes your testing at all more upright bikes the busa you are leaning foward and tucked in the gxs 14 is for soft cocks that cant handle a busa , at the end of the day you either buy a busa and love it or you buy it and realise you cant handle it and sell it

the gsx 14 is no where near a busa so your comapering the 14 which is a tourer to the busa which is a super sports bike so you really dont have a level playing feild yoyu know ,

I was going to put a shorter GSXR600 arm into mine and raise the rear a little.
See if it turned in quicker and wheelied even easier.
Spoke to a couple of folks who used the 600 arm in dragbikes, and they
say it doesnt have enough clearance unless your lowering the bike.

I think the racers use a shorter 600 arm so they can lower the bike more
and use drag-extensions to get the extra length.

Always though pulling the rear wheel shorter on a bus would keep life interesting.
sutur,

Think of it as GSX14 grunt and GSXR1000 screaming top end rush.

I thought so, I posted a thread about starting a new project and said I was looking for a wrecked busa a long while ago, we were talking about where to hide all the loom.

Still quite keen on the idea, I see you've done it.

Bazman and Tex they speak the truth, could not agree more Pi_thumbsup the Busa Gen 2 is the best bike I have ever owned, caters for everything you throw at it, long distance tourer, terrific bike two up and loaded, very good handling, in the right hands it mixes it up with sportbikes no problem, as a commuter never fusses or mucks around, straightline missile that has few peers, go on get one you know you want to Yes
