Do you smoke?

A comment passed to me by wife after the Tathra run.
"Did you notice that nearly everyone was a smoker"
In todays world, smokers (I'm talking tobacco here) are becoming less and less. In my dealing with the public, I find smokers are now in the severe minority - my guess under 10% with our guests.

So just curious, is there a larger percentage of smokers that are bike riders than the statas quo?

But if your missus starts smoking during sex then you'd better slow down and use more lubrication Lol3

....Seriously though, i've been a smoker for something like 25 years, i recently attempted giving up using Champix but after reading and experiencing some of the side effects like becomming impatient and feelings of agression i decided i was better off just cutting down, the side effect warning also mentioned "feelings/thoughts of self harm AND self harm" since i have no intentions of chopping my own arms off and beating myself to death with them i'm soon to be using patches, so far i've cut down from 25 - 30 cigarettes a day to about 10 a day and thats in the past 2 weeks, so i'm pretty damn proud of myself with that.... i absolutely intend on being a non (reformed) smoker by february.

Both my parents were heavy smokers, my mother died from problems caused by smoking. My Brother & I have never smoked, we both served in Submarines where about 90% plus of the crew smoked. An interesting observation I used to enjoy was when we were dived & the smokers couldn't light up was the change in personalities, alway's for the worst! Of cause I was never one for taking the piss out of them!.....Much!!!!!Lol2. The downside of cause was I became a heavy passive smoker. OH&S never came into effect until the late eighties, smokers were forced to smoke in front of the engine room when the diesels were runningPi_tongue or up on the bridge.Lol3.
My partner is a heavy smoker & it is a bone of contention with me big time! especially when I see her health going down hill as she suffers from Lupis, smoking doesn't help her at all.
Smoking anything other than burnouts gets thePi_thumbsdownfrom me.
I've had my 2cents worth, now I'll get off my soapbox!!

Cheers,

Used to smoke but gave up 12yrs ago. Mark was also a smoker and gave up about 5yrs ago.

Health wise its obviously not the right thing to do, but if there are people who enjoy and it then who are we to say give it up. There are plenty of campaigns now that warn of the risk. Its up to them to listen.

Oh and I also think Im the only one who voted so far for No dont own a bike and No dont smoke...hehe

I've only had 5 or 6 smokes in my life, each time was peer pressure when I was in my teens. Asthma & smoking don't go well together but I really don't think I would have taken it up anyway because my parents were smokers & I really disliked that stale smoke smell. My wife was a mild / social smoker when we met, I couldn't kiss her if she'd been smoking. For that reason she quit cold turkey - from that I deducted that I must be a good kisserLol2

I dont know if the stats are the same now but years ago the ratio of nurses who smoked was many times the average per occupation. It was put down to the idea that as nurses are exposed to every and all the horrendous ways that a human can die on a daily basis and are such hands on responders to such carnage that the potential down side of smoking pales considerably by comparison.

How that relates to the topic... I dont know... Very Happy

Can't afford too !

Don't drink, smoke, gamble, eat junk food, take sick day's, have pets or kids.

I fit in the boring b#stard / monk section.

(but I just bought a 4th bike off Ebay and are sat here planning
my 8th trip to Europe in 10 years)
